Tokyo Tower Tanabata Festival 2026: Lights and Night Market
Visit Tokyo Tower for the Tanabata Festival 2026 from June 27 to July 7. Enjoy a magical Milky Way illumination, yukata discounts, and an Asian night market.
Until July 7! Tokyo Tower Tanabata Festival 2026
Tokyo Tower is celebrating the summer star festival with its annual Milky Way Illumination and a series of exciting cultural events from June 27 to July 7, 2026.
The festival pairs Tokyo's sweeping night views with thousands of twinkling blue LEDs, a traditional wish-writing campaign, and a bustling night market at the foot of the tower.
Magical Milky Way Illumination and Wish Displays

The Main Deck (Floor 1) features the annual Milky Way Illumination, where approximately 29,000 LED bulbs recreate a shimmering river of stars across the indoor observation space. The cool, refreshing blue lights create a dreamlike harmony with the city's actual night landscape.
Right at the deck's Club333 area, guests can participate in the Wish Upon a Star campaign. Visitors are invited to write their personal hopes onto colorful tanzaku (paper strips) and hang them on display shelves. Once the festival concludes, all written wishes will be brought to the nearby Shiba Zojoji Temple for a formal blessing.
Special Deals and Perks for Wearing a Yukata

To lean into the summer festival spirit, Tokyo Tower is running its popular campaign, It's Tokyo Tower! Great Deals in Yukata! from June 27 all the way through July 31.
Guests who visit the tower wearing a yukata or jinbei (traditional casual summer wear) can access exclusive discounts and special privileges across various participating shops and services inside the complex.
Furthermore, on July 6 and 7, Tokyo Tower’s own observation deck attendants will wear yukata to welcome and mingle with travelers.
Three Days Only: ASIAN Night Market and Neon Photo Spots

From July 3 to July 5, the tower's south parking lot transforms into the ASIAN Night Market. This open-air market brings together vibrant food trucks and authentic street food booths representing Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The venue features colorful neon lights, live artist performances, and DJ sets, giving the entire area the lively, exotic energy of an overseas night bazaar. Social-media-savvy guests can take advantage of beautifully lit Tanabata-themed photo spots set against the iconic silhouette of Tokyo Tower.
City Pop Music and Classical Mini-Concerts
The Main Deck will host two major music events during the festival week:

The TOKYO TOWER CITY POP CONNECTION event on July 3 offers a retro-modern evening blending Tokyo's glowing city lights with urban, glittering J-Pop tracks spanning from the Showa era to the modern day.
On July 7, the Orchestre National d'Île-de-France Mini-Concert will feature a free 20-minute performance on Tanabata evening by principal string players from the renowned French orchestra, showcasing a few classical selections tied directly to the theme of the stars.
Shimmering Infinity Diamond Veil Light-Up

For three nights only (July 5–July 7), the exterior of Tokyo Tower will switch to its special Tanabata Infinity Diamond Veil illumination sequence.
From sunset until 22:00, 268 exterior LED lights will softly flicker and pulse, mimicking the gentle, organic twinkling of a galaxy draped across the Tokyo skyline.
