Autumn Flowers and Illuminations at Koganei Park

Tokyo’s Koganei Park will welcome visitors with seasonal flowers and evening illuminations from October 23 to November 8, 2026, as part of the Flower and Light Movement event.

Themed "A Story of Autumn Colors," the event combines autumn plants, decorations made with natural materials, and atmospheric displays of light and sound. Admission is free.

Seven event areas will extend along paths and open spaces between Ikoi no Hiroba and the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum.

Colorful Lanterns and Photo Spots

Koganei’s Beginnings, Woven in Light introduces the area’s history through colorful lanterns and fabric-inspired decorations along Ikoi no Hiroba’s east-central path.

The photo spot draws inspiration from the spring water that once supported local communities and the textile industry that developed in Koganei.

Visit during the day to enjoy the flower beds, or return after sunset to see lights transform the trees and surrounding autumn scenery.

Forest Play and Hands-On Workshops

At The Secret Hideout of Forest Lights, beside the path on the south side of Ikoi no Hiroba, children can discover the importance of trees and forests through play.

Play equipment incorporating wood from trees thinned within the park, together with musical instruments made from natural materials, encourages visitors to explore nature in a hands-on way.

Workshops will also take place in this area and other event locations, with activities including lantern making, stargazing, and animation.

Sessions are scheduled for Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays during the event. Advance reservations are required, with some same-day places available. Check the official website for schedules and booking details.

Golden Autumn Scenery and Food Trucks

A Golden Moment, Aglow with Light offers a relaxing space beneath trees turning golden, also beside Ikoi no Hiroba’s southern path.

Tables and benches made from upcycled materials provide places to sit, chat, and enjoy the park’s autumn surroundings.

Food trucks will operate during the event, giving visitors another reason to pause between exploring the displays.
