Submit Your Best Japanese Scenery Photos with MATCHA!

Japan is home to countless scenic destinations that capture the hearts of people everywhere. Many locals hope that travelers will visit to take photos of these beautiful places. Others living far away from these areas are enamored with these spots and hope to visit with their friends or loved ones.

Travel in Japan and globally has been disrupted due to the spread of the novel coronavirus. However, we hope you enjoy Japan when you visit post-COVID-19. With that in mind, MATCHA launched the special Ready For Japan! series so readers can experience Japan from the comfort of their homes.

This time, we’re hosting the Show Us Your Japan Pictures photo contest as part of this feature project. If you live in Japan currently, it may be the scenic view of your city’s notable natural streets, or picturesque spots well-known only to locals. For those who are located outside of Japan, it may be an unforgettable sight you saw during your travels. We want you to submit your best photo of Japan!

Show Us Your Japan Pictures! Contest Details

Below are details on how to enter.

Theme for Photo Entry

・Post a photo of a scenic spot in Japan you want to recommend to others to visit once travel is possible again.

・Submit photos from any season. Photos taken at festival venues or inside commercial facilities, such as hot springs, are permitted. However, do not enter photos that contain the name of the facility or people’s faces without authorization.
・The photos submitted must be taken by yourself, or be posted with the photographer’s permission.

Photo Entry Sizes

Landscape, portrait, and square-oriented photos are permitted. However, the sizes of images shown below are trimmed once uploaded onto Instagram. We ask that your original photo size be larger than the sizes listed below.

Let MATCHA Promote Your Favorite Spots in Japan!

Six photos will be selected from the entries. The winning photos will be posted on MATCHA’s Instagram feed (16,000 followers), as well as on our Instagram story. The photos will also be published in an article on MATCHA's website and be shared worldwide in multiple languages.

Information on the area and/or facility will be promoted in MATCHA’s article according to the selected winners’ requests. The photographer’s profile can also be included. Winners will be notified by MATCHA after the contest ends: if you are contacted, please let us know what you wish to include.
