Hakone's Healing Halloween Terraces: Bonfires, Starry Skies, Cocktails, and More!

This fall, the Grand Prince Resort Hakone has created four special “Halloween Terraces” in Hakone for their hotel guests: three at their hotels, and one on the summit of Mount Komagatake.

Limited edition meal courses will be available at each of the terraces, as well as a range of cocktails and fun Halloween-themed treats!

Located just 90 minutes by train from Tokyo, Hakone is famed for its abundant natural scenery and wealth of hot springs. Guests at the terraces will be able to enjoy experiences such as bonfires, hot spring baths, and stunning night sky views!

1. Ashinoko Lakeside Terrace

This terrace at The Prince Hakone Lake Ashinoko is close to the shores of Hakone's iconic Lake Ashi, and guests can relax in comfort while enjoying the sounds of nature, beautiful lake views, and a soothing bonfire.

A range of photogenic Halloween cocktails and treats will be available for guests to enjoy while at the terrace!

2. Komagatake Starry Terrace

Located at the summit of Mount Komagatake at an altitude of 1,356 meters, this impressive terrace affords visitors sweeping views of stunning starry skies.

Special limited-edition Halloween takeout boxes will be available for guests to bring with them up to the summit, as well as hand-held lanterns which add to the overall atmosphere.

The creators of this terrace invite their guests to bathe in the light of the stars while enjoying food, drinks, and total relaxation!

3. Sengokuhara Kojo Terrace

The atmospheric Hakone Sengokuhara Prince Hotel is reminiscent of a medieval castle, and will make guests feel like they've stepped into another world! The Grill Restaurant has been decorated with lanterns and candles this fall to give it a haunting Halloween vibe.

The huge restaurant windows overlook the area's stunning natural scenery and the outer rim of a crater, offering picturesque views, and a true escape from urban life. Exclusive Halloween-themed menus and cocktails will also be on offer!

4. Yunohara Yuagari Terrace

The Hakone Yunohara Prince Hotel is known for its impressive open-air hot spring baths, which are at the highest elevation of any public hot spring bath in Hakone. They offer stunning views of starry skies that seem so close you could almost touch them.

After relaxing in the baths, guests are invited to take a peaceful stroll and enjoy a glass of wine in the hotel courtyard, which has been beautifully decorated with lanterns.

Adorable Halloween-themed puddings and drinks will also be available for hotel guests to enjoy in the hotel lounge!

Trick or Treat Event

The hotels will also host a trick-or-treat event, where they will hand out colorful Halloween-themed macarons to a limited number of guests!

Each hotel will give out its own cute designs, which include ghosts, pumpkins, cats, bats, and haunted castles!

The event will take place from September 30 until October 31. Macarons will be handed out in the morning between 9:00 and 10:00, and in the afternoon from 14:00 until 17:00.
