Stargazing in Nagano! Mokki: Stardust Luxury Glamping Achi Village
Mokki - Stardust Luxury Glamping Achi Village, opening in August 2022 in Nagano, offers stargazers stunning views of the Milky Way. We introduce the features of this star-themed glamping facility.
Outdoor activities have seen a huge surge in popularity in the past two years, in part due to pandemic-fueled anxiety regarding crowded, confined spaces. There has also been a rising trend in those wishing to escape urban life for more scenic, peaceful locations.
The primary appeal of glamping lies in the fact that it allows holiday goers to experience the beauty and relaxation of nature, without forgoing all of the comforts and amenities they may be accustomed to. Mokki - Stardust Luxury Glamping Achi Village, which is scheduled to open to visitors this August in Nagano, aims to offer its guests an experience they cannot get in the city.

Located on the southern edge of Nagano Prefecture and nestled within the Japanese Alps, Achi Village has been declared the best place in Japan for viewing the stars by the Ministry of Environment. The village offers a view of the Milky Way that has been described as appearing so close that one could reach out and touch it.

The night sky isn't Achi's only draw, as the picturesque area is also famous for its stunning natural scenery, which is breathtaking in all seasons. The village is also home to a popular ski resort, as well as local hot spring facilities.
For these reasons Achi has recently garnered a great deal of attention, and has become a popular spot for those seeking out stunning night sky views unspoiled by urban light pollution. The creators of this new glampsite have built it around the concept of giving stargazers the best night sky views possible.

In conjunction with a local tour operator, the facility will also offer guests the opportunity to take part in night sky and ‘unkai’ ('sea of clouds') tours. During night tours, participants will be taken to an observation point where they'll be able to get the best views of the stars. The 'unkai' tours, which take place at daybreak during fall, take visitors to a viewing spot that becomes a surreal sea of clouds at sunrise.
The area also offers a wealth of other outdoor activities, including rafting, trekking, cycling, and fishing. Guests can also refresh themselves at the nearby Tsukikawa Onsen hot spring, and at night they can enjoy relaxing by the site's campfire, under a glittering sky of stars.
