The poppies at Kasaoka Kasaoka reclaimed land, are now in full bloom. Kasaoka Bay Farm is home to a variety of flowers blooming throughout the seasons. Right now, the pink and Aka poppies are beautiful. There are several photo spots, but this photo was taken at the photo spot in front of the parking lot. (Photo taken on May 16, 2023)

There is also a viewing spot in the flower field

Among the fields of Aka and pink poppies stretching as far as the eye can see, there is a vantage point from which you can see the entire poppy field.

Bus stop photo spot

There is a photo spot at the bus stop along the path that leads to the observation point. I took a photo with my straw hat and basket on the ground, and before I knew it, a crowd had gathered, and the people around me were taking photos too, haha. I recommend bringing your own items with you to take photos!

With a poppy field in the background!

I took another photo from a slightly different angle. Many people around me were also taking photos.

Aka poppies

The whole place is covered in Aka and pink poppies, but if you look closely you will see that there are many different varieties of Aka in bloom.

It was a beautiful sunny day, almost like a summer day. The poppies were swaying against the blue sky.

Kasaoka Farm Roadside Station is filled with fresh, locally grown vegetables and fruits, and is always bustling with customers. I was surprised at how cheap the prices were! On the day I visited, they had seasonal broad beans on display at a low price. They were so fresh and delicious, I would go there every day if it were closer.

Secret Kitchen Snail / Satosho Town

Drive to the poppy fields of Kasaoka Bay Farm and the newly opened "Himitsu Kitchen Katatsumuri"

I visited a newly opened lakeside cafe in Satosho Town , about a 20-minute drive from the Kasaoka Farm Roadside Station, in March 2023. The roads around the area are a little narrow, but it's accessible by regular car. The scenery around the lake suddenly opens up, making it a beautiful place. I could somehow understand why the cafe is called "Secret Kitchen Katatsumuri."

Antique entrance

The parking lot is large, so even a regular car can fit in.

Antique space with a fireplace

The interior of the shop is an antique space with a fireplace and dried flowers scattered here and there. You can drink lemon water as much as you like. It is connected to a large garden, so you can enjoy your drink on the terrace.

Fresh green garden

The view from inside the restaurant is of fresh greenery and the lakeside is right in front of you, making it extremely relaxing! When you step out onto the terrace, the breeze is pleasant and the only sound you can hear is the chirping of birds. Even though it's close to the main road, it feels like you've entered another world. Looking out at the lakeside, you'll want to try swinging in the shade of the fresh green trees.

Choose from 4 lunch options

For lunch, you can choose from four options: hamburger steak, Ebino tomato cream pasta, runny egg meat doria, or beef tendon demi-glace omelet rice, and you can add a dessert or drink to your set. I chose the Ebino tomato cream pasta, which was very filling with plump shrimp. I ate at a counter seat, where I could look out over the fresh green garden.

Dessert on the garden terrace

The dessert was a homemade cake made by the wife, which apparently changes with the seasons. There were three types to choose from: chocolate chiffon, kumquat pound cake, and cheesecake, so I went for the kumquat pound cake. Since it looked so nice outside, I had dessert on the terrace. It was a great location with the lake right in front of me and birdsong playing in the background. The cake was delicious, too.
