Start planning your trip

The museum faithfully recreates the world of Tezuka Manga, beloved by people of all generations, and is packed with fun things to do, including a wide variety of exhibits, original anime screenings, work-making experiences, a library, and shopping.
Tezuka Osamu spent about 20 years, from age 5 to 24, in the naturally rich city of Takarazuka City. The Takarazuka Tezuka Osamu Manga Museum was established in April 1994, based on the themes of "love for nature" and "the preciousness of life" that he continued to express in his numerous works.
Look for the unique exterior reminiscent of an old European castle and a monument representing Tezuka's manga. The "Phoenix" spreading its wings into the sky was built the year after the museum opened as the "Takarazuka City Peace Monument" with the wish that "peace without war will be created and all life in the universe will be cherished."
Let's go inside! The spacious entrance is full of playfulness, from the ceiling to the floor. You'll be greeted by fun stained glass featuring popular characters, a smiling face of Tezuka decorated with mosaic tiles, and the main characters of special exhibitions (which are changed three times a year).
">
Let's start with the permanent exhibition room on the first floor. The capsules lined up are packed with items related to Tezuka Osamu and materials related to his works.
There are a total of 40 capsules on display, all based on the life support machines that appear in "Phoenix (Future Chapter)"! Each capsule has a story behind it, such as Takarazuka's relationship with Takarazuka, where he spent the 20 years he spent there from the age of 5, the insect collecting that fascinated the young Tezuka, and his valuable medical license.
">
Another highlight of the permanent exhibition room is the "Tezuka Osamu Timeline." Born in Toyonaka City , Osaka Prefecture in 1928, he moved to Takarazuka City at the age of five. From the age of 18 to 60, he worked on a total of 700 titles, totaling 150,000 pages, an impressive total!
The long timeline shows that for nearly 40 years, the company has tirelessly produced works aimed at a wide range of generations.
The messenger machine installed at the end of the capsule constantly broadcasts rare videos of Tezuka Osamu himself, "Tezuka Osamu Speaks at a Glance," and video messages from famous manga artists and anime directors, "Talking about Tezuka Osamu." There is also footage of Fujiko Fujio, Machiko Satonaka, Matsumoto Matsumoto, and even Yoshiyuki Tomino, known for "Mobile Suit Gundam," making it a truly fascinating experience!
You can sit in a chair and enjoy the exhibits at your leisure, so it's also a great place to take a break.
At the Atom Vision video hall at the back of the first Oku, you can enjoy the museum's original animation, which changes every month. Characters are vividly drawn on the ceiling, making the waiting time even more exciting!
">
Take the stairs or elevator to the second floor. The special exhibition room changes every four months, and features exhibits themed around Tezuka's works, as well as collaborations with popular anime.
In spring and autumn, special exhibitions related to Tezuka's works are held. The exhibits, which have captivated fans, include "Phoenix," "Buddha," "Black Jack," "Astro Boy," and more. (The next theme will be announced on the official website.)
Beyond the exhibition room is a fun-looking shop! It's also a fun time to choose a souvenir or a small gift to commemorate your visit.
Starting from the Chuo of the photo going clockwise, there are the individually wrapped "Hyotan Tsugi Cookies" (486 yen), "Tamago Senbei" (Egg Rice Crackers) (540 yen) made in collaboration with carbonated rice cracker shop "Kogane-ya," "Chocolate Langue de Chat Cookies" (864 yen), and "Tezuka Characters mt (masking tape)" (198 yen), which are only available at the memorial museum.
I ended up buying too much...

The Tezuka Osamu Library, which many fans visit in anticipation of this event, has a large collection of Tezuka Osamu's manga and related books, totaling about 2,000 volumes! International editions and Braille versions are also available.
A slightly futuristic-looking "information and anime search machine." You can freely browse a wide variety of data about Tezuka Osamu himself and his works, as well as most of his anime works! Try playing games with the characters.
Take a break at the cute flower table surrounded by the world of "Jungle Emperor". Please take off your shoes in the rest area at the Oku , and bring your small children.
The "Theme Exhibition Shelf" is arranged by chronology under the theme of "Works that Tezuka Osamu created during his time at Takarazuka ," and includes displays of the "Star System Planner," "New Takara Island," the influence of the Takarazuka Revue, and manga about the stage. It is designed to allow visitors to get a deeper understanding of the worldview of each work.
Now, let's go to the last floor, Floor G. The atmosphere is just like Astro Boy's robot factory! In the "Animation Workshop" where computers are lined up, you can enjoy a simple anime production experience.
At the Oku of the workshop, we spotted Osamu Tezuka drawing manga on a stage! Yes, this is Osamu Tezuka's workroom.
The Tezuka Osamu Manga Museum is easily accessible from Hyogo Prefecture, as well as Osaka, Nara, and Kyoto. From the timeless works, you can learn various messages such as the passion of the young Tezuka, his wish for peace, and the preciousness of life.
Make good use of the re-entry system to see, touch, and enjoy the world of Tezuka Osamu to your heart's content.
