Start planning your trip

We are creating a trip to Tambasasayama, Hyogo Prefecture. We want you to travel as if you are a local and meet the people who live here. We aim to create a trip where you can gain "realizations" and "learnings" that go beyond the countryside experience through life in the nature-rich Satoyama.

◆ Accommodation: NIPPONIA Fukuzumi Post Town (Day 1) and Old-style Guesthouse in the City (Day 2)

In addition to hearing from the people who are building the town of Tamba sasayama, staying in an old folk house, and eating delicious food, this year's concept is "a third party dives into the lifestyle of the village." The purpose of this trip is to experience life surrounded by abundant nature and interacting with people who are everyday in the countryside but don't exist in the city. By entering the village and working with local residents to do the necessary work for the season, such as mowing the grass, cleaning ditches, and inspecting animal pest fences, you will learn about the rules of the countryside and the busyness of part-time farmers, which you may have been wondering about.
Through this trip, you will experience the busy life in the countryside and try to see how far you can go while having fun with your guide and other participants! You are also free to join the village drinking party that starts in the evening.
We have created a trip for people who want to learn more about Tamba sasayama from a different perspective, or who want to make Tamba sasayama a second base, where they can stay for more than just tourism but not necessarily move there, and discover, confirm, enjoy, and make decisions through interactions with other people, in a way that makes everything feel like it is their own.
Located about an hour from Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe, Tambasasayama is described by many visitors as "just the right amount of countryside" and "a town with tranquil countryside." After a castle was built about 400 years ago, it flourished as a castle town, and even today traditional buildings, culture, and the lifestyle of the countryside that has been passed down for generations remain.
In Tambasasayama, where nostalgia and newness coexist, come and experience and talk with people who continue to work in the community and the thoughts of immigrants. And experience the connections between people while spending time in this nature-rich satoyama.
During your stay in Tambasasayama, you may find something that interests you.
The experience of diving into the village is common to both courses, and on the other dates you can choose one of two courses.
Sightseeing course (maximum 6 people)
・I want to experience innovative initiatives. ・I want to experience rural life in the fall. ・I want to see Tambasasayama from a different perspective.
Less Than Immigration Course (Maximum 6 people)
・I want to find hints for creating a second base. ・I want to experience the essence of immigrant life. ・I want to connect with various people in this area.
"It felt more like going to a relative's house than joining a tour with a travel agency."
"The conversation over the meal led us to talk about the job I was looking for."
"It was impressive to see how much everyone loves the scenery of Sasayama."
"I was happy to encounter so many delicious things."
"I wish I had more time to move around freely."
"Even if I don't intend to emigrate, the experience of seeing a different way of life was a good opportunity to reexamine my own way of life."
"Having the opportunity to interact and talk with local people, staff, and even with other participants has given me a boost for the future."
This is the sixth year for this tour, Satoyama Living. There is a reason why we have changed the title to "Can I live in the countryside?" Our staff, who are from the local area to those who have moved here, went back to the basics of creating the trip and shared their opinions from their own perspectives. The countryside scattered throughout Japan must each have its own characteristics. Tambasasayama has many faces, such as a constant presence of annual immigrants, a gathering of craftsmen and shops, and a perfect countryside. On this tour, we want participants to experience places that they would not be able to explore on their own, and to experience the essence of living in this land. We have finally landed on this idea. Please share your impressions of the trip on the last day of the trip or after you return home. We will also deliver the impressions of Tambasasayama residents at the same time.
