Access to Kaitakusha

Kaitakusha is located in a green area inland of Ainan Town. It is not a typical tourist spot, but that is precisely why it offers beautiful rural scenery that has not been commercialized as a tourist spot and a rich lifestyle rooted in nature.

As the inn is located in a rural village with no public transportation, we recommend that you come by car. Please rent a car to get to the inn.

An old-style inn where you can enjoy a Japanese garden

Kaitakusha is an old Japanese-style inn built over 50 years ago with a Japanese garden. Guest rooms (Japanese-style rooms) were renovated with the cooperation of local people, and you can enjoy the seasonal flowers blooming in the garden from the veranda.

In addition to Japanese-style rooms, there are two Western-style rooms available. In the free space (alcove) adjacent to the Japanese-style rooms, you can relax and read a book or gaze out at the garden. This space can also be used for workcations.

Kaitakusha is basically a lodging facility with no meals included. This is because we want guests to get around Ainan Town while deepening face-to-face interactions with the townspeople as much as possible, and to visit local restaurants and enjoy the local cuisine.

If you have any requests, we will introduce you to restaurants in the town, so please feel free to contact us.

For dinner, we can also provide an optional "Ainan Wild Game & Seasonal Seafood BBQ." Reservations are accepted for two people or more. We also offer a light breakfast option. Please make a reservation in advance if you wish to opt for this option.

Go with a fisherman! Fishing boat cruising and fishing

This ocean experience tour (held from April to October) allows you to board a small fishing boat owned by an Ainan fisherman and enjoy boat fishing while admiring the beautiful scenery of Ainan seen from the sea. You can also experience the irreplaceable experience of being grateful for life by filleting the fish you catch yourself.

Explore the Sozu River by canoe or packraft!

This river tour (held from July to October) allows you to enjoy the calm, clear waters of the Sozu River, which flows through the green area of Ainan Town, by canoeing and packrafting. You can also try catching lobsters in a quiet, private waterside space.

Jugai Tour

This hunting observation tour takes you through the mountains with hunters and their dogs during the deer and wild boar hunting season (November 1st to March 15th), and accompanies them on a deer or wild boar hunt (gun hunt). Through the hunting experience, you can learn about the current state and issues of animal damage, as well as the nature of life, while experiencing the profound depths of ancient Japanese hunting and the charm of satoyama life.

Kaitakusha is located in the Ainan Town Midori area, at the southernmost tip of Ehime Prefecture, bordering Sukumo City in Kochi Prefecture to the east. One of the great things about Ainan Town is that it is only 30 to 50 minutes by car to the neighboring cities of Sukumo and Shimanto.

It takes about an hour to reach Kayashima Island (Otsuki Town), a popular spot for diving and reef fishing. Further along, you can reach Cape Ashizuri (Tosashimizu City), the southernmost point of Shikoku, in about three hours, so you can use Ainan Town as your base for a driving trip around the southernmost part of Ehime Prefecture and the Shimanto and Ashizuri areas of Kochi Prefecture.
