Akame Shijuhachi Falls, located in the center of Muro Akame Aoyama Quasi-National Park in Nabari City, Mie Prefecture, is a scenic 4 km valley featuring 23 waterfalls of various sizes. Its stunning scenery has earned it a place among Japan’s “Top 100 Waterfalls.”
A 3.3 km circular trail connects all the waterfalls, allowing visitors to hike and enjoy forest bathing. Completing the full loop takes about three hours. Among the waterfalls, Fudo, Senju, Nunobiki, Nitan, and Biwa Falls—known as the Akame Five Waterfalls—are the largest and most famous, making them a must-see along the trail.

In autumn, Akame Shijuhachi Falls is especially stunning, as Japanese maples and wild cherry trees turn the valley red. From the trekking trail to Mount Nagasaka, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the valley and surrounding mountains adorned with autumn colors.

Hiking Course Options
Akame 48 Falls offers several hiking trails suitable for different fitness levels. The shortest trail takes 23 minutes one way, while the longest takes 90 minutes. Even the shortest route provides access to the five Akame Waterfalls—Fudo, Senju, and Nunobiki Falls—along gentle slopes and stairs, making it suitable for most visitors.
