[Introduction] What is the wedding photo service in Hida Takayama where you can wear wedding kimonos?
I want to go to my beloved Japan for my honeymoon with my precious partner! I want to give my partner a special gift! I want to create special memories for the two of us! If you are thinking about these things, then we recommend a romantic activity for you: a wedding photo service in Hida Takayama !
The location of the photo shoot, Hida Takayama, is located in the northern part of Gifu Prefecture, almost in the center of Japan. It is a rural tourist destination that retains a strong sense of traditional Japanese beauty. The old townscape that continues from the Edo period makes you feel as if you have traveled back in time.
The costume worn during the photo shoot is a wedding kimono. There are 11 types of kimono, but the one you will wear for this service is a special kimono worn at Japanese weddings . Wedding kimonos are very gorgeous and feature gorgeous embroidery. If you bring your own, you can also wear a tuxedo, wedding dress, or traditional costume from your country.
This service involves wearing special wedding kimonos and taking wedding photos while touring the old streets and historical buildings of Hida Takayama, a rural town in Japan, with a guide.
Introducing the flow of the shoot, the time required, and the shooting locations
In this article, we will introduce the process for the day if you are only wearing one kimono.
The day before the photo shoot: Choose a kimono (time required: about 2 hours)
There are many different colored kimonos for brides. Also, there are "Kaitou Hakosako" and "Sashieri" that are worn with the kimono. The kaiken in Kaitou Hakosako is a short sword used as a talisman, and the hakosako is what we would call a makeup pouch today. The sashieri is a colored, insert-type collar that adds a gorgeous touch to the neck.
On the day before the photo shoot, you will come to our Mariecouture store in Hida Takayama and choose your favorite kimono and a matching sword case and collar.
We also have kimonos for the groom available in different colors, so you can choose one and try it on to check the fit.
On the day of the shoot: 7:45AM, we met up and headed to the hair salon to get ready.
We will meet you at the hotel in Takayama where you are staying and head to the beauty salon where you will be dressed in a kimono and have your hair and makeup done. At this time, we will head to the beauty salon without makeup, just basic makeup.
8:00AM: Kimono dressing and hair and makeup starts at the beauty salon (time required: 105 minutes)
Compared to regular kimonos, wedding kimonos are completely different in terms of thickness, number of layers underneath, and design, even within the same kimono category. If you were to compare it to cuisine, it would be like the difference between French cuisine and Japanese cuisine. Therefore, special skills are required to wear it, so only a limited number of hairdressers who have mastered that technique can do it.
In our service, experienced hairdressers with kimono dressing skills will transform you into a bride or groom filled with Japanese beauty. By the way, we call our kimono dressing teachers "God's hands" because of their beautiful kimono dressing and solid skills.
For the bride's hair and makeup, and the groom's hairstyle, we will ask you to send us an image in advance or ask about your preferences.
From this point on, your interpreter/guide will be with you, so feel free to tell your hairdresser what you want.
9:45 AM Move to shooting location (time required: 15 minutes)
Once you've put on your kimono, it's time to head to the photoshoot location, where your photographer will be waiting and ready to go.
10:00AM Shooting starts (Time required: approx. 180 minutes)
Spot 1: Old Town
The first photo spot is the "old townscape" that has continued since the Edo period. This old townscape is a popular spot in Hida Takayama that attracts many tourists. Tourists start gathering around 10 o'clock, and by the afternoon it is so crowded with tourists that it is difficult to take photos. Therefore, the key is to start taking photos at 10 o'clock. Enjoy taking photos while listening to the guide's explanations.

If you're lucky and there aren't many people around, you can go deep into the old town and take photos.
Spot 2: Nakabashi and the surrounding area
More than 400 years ago, a castle called "Takayama Castle" was built in Hida Takayama by a military commander named Kanamori Nagachika. Takayama Castle was known as one of the top five castles in Japan. A river flows between Takayama Castle and Shimoyashiki (Kanamori Nagachika's villa), and Nakabashi Bridge was built to connect the two.
This bridge is bright red and is also known as the "Red Bridge." It still serves as a link between the old townscape and the town of Hida Takayama.

Nakabashi Bridge in February. We also recommend taking photos while riding in a rickshaw. A rickshaw is a uniquely Japanese means of transportation invented mainly during the Meiji period, a two-wheeled vehicle pulled by a human. Rickshaws were once widely used as a means of daily transportation, but in modern times they are a popular part of the tourist experience.
We recommend walking along the path next to Nakabashi Bridge with a Japanese umbrella, as this will allow you to take natural-looking photos.
Spot 3: Murahan
Murahan is a townhouse built in 1818, in the late Edo period, over 200 years ago. The building has the characteristics of traditional Hida townhouse architecture. It was renovated in 2005 and is now open to local residents and tourists as a facility where you can experience traditional Hida townhouse architecture.
This is a photo of the kimono standing, which shows off its beauty the most. In fact, this standing pose takes the most time. This is because wedding kimonos have beautiful shapes, and it takes time to create those shapes. We adjust the width of the kimono hem in millimeter increments.

This couple was a big fan of the movie Top Gun. They brought along Top Gun model sunglasses and took wedding photos that were just like them. With this service, you can take photos with your favorite items.
12:00 PM Finished shooting and returned to the salon to change clothes
Once the photoshoot is over, you will return to the salon in your kimono, change, and your session is finished.
The photos taken will be retouched and sent to you digitally in approximately one and a half months.
Finally, we took a commemorative photo with our staff!
Photo data will be delivered approximately one and a half months after the shoot.
