The 2026 edition of Night Cherry Blossom, Sea of Clouds presents a notable enhancement: the signature soft-pink illumination now reaches farther into the waterscape, extending along the Hotaruzawa (firefly stream). As the misty “sea of clouds” drifts through the garden, it carries that delicate pink light into the brook, bathing the water in a luminous glow that mirrors the season’s blossoms and renews how the garden can be seen at night.

Around Hotaruzawa a new flower lights installation dots the foliage with tiny, starry points, evoking the slow fall of petals and lending the waterscape a subtle, layered luminosity. From this year onward the water features will be lit throughout the seasons, fulfilling the garden’s longstanding aim to celebrate water as a central design element—a vision first set out by Aritomo Yamagata in the Meiji period. The waterscape itself will be lit year-round beginning in 2026, realizing the intent to showcase the “beautiful landscape that makes use of water” championed by Aritomo Yamagata.
The garden itself, originally designed by Aritomo Yamagata during the Meiji era, celebrates Japan’s natural beauty and continues a tradition of presenting classic Japanese garden aesthetics.

The illumination is open to hotel guests and patrons of the hotel's shops and restaurants, and its proximity to the Kanda River offers guests an ideal base for further hanami (cherry blossom viewing) exploration in Tokyo.
