Start planning your trip

A two- Tomari, one-night trip to Kagoshima, Tarumi , where you can enjoy deep hot springs and saunas, local set meals, and a hotel with a spectacular view of Mt. Sakurajima. We introduce a "Totonoi Trip" that will heal your mind and body.
Kagoshima Prefecture Tarumizu City, Kagoshima Prefecture, is a warm town that stretches along Kinko overlooking Sakurajima. This area is dotted with "deep hot springs and saunas" that are not overly touristy and have been loved by locals for many years.
This time, we will introduce a two- Tomari, one-night hot spring trip that the author, who frequently visits the sauna near his home, took in search of a "new place of relaxation" to refresh both the mind and body.
About an hour's drive from Kagoshima Airport, we drove along the coast to arrive at "T.M. Ranch Hot Springs." This hot spring got its name from the fact that it was once adjacent to a racehorse breeding farm, and is a well-known artesian hot spring loved by locals.
▼Features:
・Natural hot springs springing from 1,300m underground
・The rock surface turns golden due to the iron-containing spring water.
・The water temperature is about 37-38℃, perfect for long baths.
・Seaside location overlooking Kinko and Sakurajima
On sunny days, you may even see dolphins. Enjoy a luxurious and relaxing time feeling the ocean breeze.

After warming up in the hot springs, we headed to Kanoya City, about 30 minutes by car. Minato Shokudo, located near the port, is managed directly by the Kanoya Fisheries Association and is popular for its dishes made with freshly caught amberjack.
I ordered the specialty "Amberjack Pickled Rice Bowl Set Meal." The amberjack is marinated in a sweet soy sauce that has been passed down for generations in the area, and is fatty and has a mellow taste. The crunchy sashimi and stewed fish are also excellent.
"I want to eat this flavor again when I come back," says the owner, who continues to preserve the same flavor as when the restaurant first opened.

After the meal, we drove straight to Sakurajima. It's a popular tourist destination that can also be accessed by ferry, but we stopped off at Sakurajima Lava Nagisa Park in search of a place with fewer tourists. Soaking your feet in the footbath while enjoying the view of the majestic Sakurajima, the sea, and the breeze is a moment that makes you feel as if you are one with nature.
To end the day, head to the Teiem Onsen Center, which is run by the same owner as Teiem Ranch Onsen. The combination of a fragrant cypress sauna called "Forest Bathing" and a deep, cold water bath offers a truly relaxing experience.
▼Recommended points:
・Odorless, colorless and transparent hot spring water (41℃) and boiling water (42-43℃)
・The sauna is 90℃, and the cold bath is a "waterfall bath" style where you can bathe from the head up.
・A deep local space where local regulars gather
The hot sauna and cold water bath, and the backs of the locals silently telling me, "That was a great bath." Even though I was in an unfamiliar place, I somehow felt like I was "home."

The hot springs and saunas in Kagoshima, Tarumi, the local food, and the kind people. It was a trip where I was able to encounter **"healing in everyday life"** that was a little different from the typical tourist spots.
