[Ishikawa/Kanazawa] One-day tour to learn about Kanazawa's castle town and contemporary art

Omicho Market has been the largest fresh food market in Kanazawa since the Edo period (1603–1867). Its busy network of covered streets holds over 180 stalls and restaurants that sell fresh seafood, vegetables, fruit, and many other local products.

Kanazawa Castle Park is a historical space that was once the castle of the Maeda clan, the feudal lord of the Kaga domain, and is now open to the public. Together with its outer garden, Kenrokuen, it is a treasure for the people of Ishikawa Prefecture, and we hope that many people will come and experience its splendor.

There is much to see here, including historical structures designated as Important Cultural Properties, such as Ishikawamon Gate, Sanjukken Nagaya, and Tsurumaru Warehouse, the grandeur of the recently reconstructed Hishi Yagura, Gojukken Nagaya, and Hashizumemon Zoku Yagura, as well as the abundant flora and fauna that can be found around Honmaru Garden.

Historical and cultural heritage reflecting the culture of the Kaga Domain
Kenrokuen is one of the three most famous gardens in Japan, along with Kairakuen in Mito and Korakuen in Okayama. Kenrokuen was created over a long period of time by successive feudal lords of Kaga as a representative feudal garden of the Edo period. Located in the center of Kanazawa City, it is loved by many locals and tourists from all over the world as a garden where you can enjoy the beauty of the four seasons.

There are many works that you can actually see, touch, and feel, such as Leandro Erlich's ``Swimming Pool'' (commonly known as Leandro's Pool), so you can enjoy it as if you were visiting a ``park.''

The Nagamachi Samurai Residence Site, where old earthen walls and stone-paved alleys remain, is lined with magnificent samurai residences. It has been designated a traditional environment preservation area and a scenic district, and the area still maintains its quaint scenery.

Higashi Chaya District is a historic streetscape in Kanazawa that conveys the atmosphere of the Edo period. It has been designated as a nationally designated Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, and is lined with two-story wooden teahouse buildings. Once a place where geisha entertained guests, it is now lined with traditional craft shops, cafes, and Japanese confectionery shops. It is a popular tourist spot where you can experience Kanazawa's traditional culture, such as products using gold leaf and Kaga Yuzen.
