What is Gold-Guide?

Gold-Guide is a platform operated by West Japan Marketing Communications Inc. (JR-West Group) that matching platform to connect highly skilled interpreter guides and foreign travelers to Japan.

All guides registered with Gold-Guide are nationally certified guide-interpreters and are excellent professional guides who have passed a recruitment interview. In addition to talking in depth about Japanese history and culture, they also act as a bridge between customers and local people, and provide an unforgettable experience in Japan while valuing the joy and satisfaction of each and every customer.

The areas covered by the guided tours are diverse, centering on the Kansai region (Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Shiga, Hyogo (Kobe/Himeji Castle)), as well as Okayama, the islands of the Seto Inland Sea, Hiroshima (Miyajima), Kanazawa, etc. Furthermore, the areas are expanding to cover the whole of Japan.

About the "Gold-Guide" Guides

In order to provide the best experience to our customers, Gold-Guide has its own criteria. One of them is that applicants must be qualified as a National Guide-Interpreter (a national qualification recognized by the Japanese government). In addition, we interview all applicants individually to confirm that they meet our employment criteria. Only those who pass this interview can register.

We want to provide tours that truly satisfy each and every customer and allow them to enjoy with peace of mind. To achieve this, it is essential that you are well versed in Japanese history and culture and have excellent communication skills. We also believe that the ability to respond flexibly to the customer's situation and professionalism that inspires trust are also essential. In order to evaluate these capabilities, we interview all applicants individually and then decide whether or not they are accepted.

Our greatest wish is for our guests to have a special experience in Japan.

How to make a reservation

①Book from the tour

Select your desired tour from the Hilight Tour list. (You can narrow your search using the Filter function.) Or, click on the area you want from the Area list in the center of the site (see below) and proceed to tour selection.

After selecting a tour, select the desired date from the calendar. The interpreter guides available on that date will be displayed at the bottom of the calendar, so select your preferred guide. (Days when the calendar is grayed out are days when there are no available guides.)

②Book from the guide

When you select your favorite guide from Meet the Gold Guides , a list of tours that the selected guide can take will be displayed. Select a tour from the list and proceed with the reservation process in the same way as for ①Booking from a tour. *If the date has already been decided, it will be smoother to search using the date search at the top of the guide list!

Tour Schedule

The tour generally meets and ends at your hotel. Once your reservation is complete, you will meet your guide in the hotel lobby at the appointed time on the day of your stay, and the tour will begin. If you would like to change the meeting place, please consult with your guide on the platform after completing your reservation. (Some tours are also set to meet/disband at the station.)
