"Fukkou Chinese Dining" offers authentic Chinese cuisine at reasonable prices. It is about a 12-minute walk from the east exit of Okayama Station. The restaurant is located along Haremachi Street.

The soup is spicy and packed with sesame seeds. The minced meat and vegetables make for a satisfying dandan noodle dish. Personally, I loved the slight sweetness of the nuts in the soup, which cleansed my palate. This is a popular menu item at the restaurant, and one I'll want to eat regularly.

It's about a 4-minute walk from Shin- Saidaiji Station on the Okayama Electric Railway Seikibashi Line. It's also about a 15-minute walk from JR Okayama Station. Located near Nishigawa Ryokudo Park, "Jyozen" is a restaurant where you can eat their famous dandan noodles, as the sign says, "Okayama Dandan Noodles." Please note that they only serve morning ramen and izakaya time, so there is no lunch time. Ramen Sakura is a ramen restaurant located near Okayama University. If you are coming from Okayama Station, take the Okaden bus from the Okayama bus stop and get off at Okayama Shodai-mae. It takes about 20 minutes one way and costs 280 yen. As it is close to the university, it is popular with students at lunchtime. Dandan noodles are usually topped with minced meat, but this one also contains roast pork, making it very satisfying. Despite its appearance, it is not too spicy and goes down easily. You can add more spiciness to your liking, so please try adjusting the spiciness to your liking.

Tora Boruta offers dry dandan noodles that can only be eaten here. There is no train station nearby, so it is recommended to go by car or taxi. It is about a 5-minute taxi ride from JR Kitanagase Station. You stir the noodles before eating, and the steam and aroma that spreads out at that time is amazing. Although it is a dry bowl, it has a nice spiciness and definitely tastes like dandan noodles. It's a strange feeling. The photo shows it topped with fried chicken. Because it is a dry bowl, it feels good to see the bowl completely empty after finishing it.

This udon restaurant is also recommended for families. It's located in the Omotemachi shopping arcade, so it's easy to get to! They have a wide variety of udon, so it's always hard to choose, but my personal recommendation is the spicy tantan udon. It's packed with vegetables, and you can add up to two servings of udon for free, so you're sure to be full. The tantan soup is quite spicy, so spicy you'll break out in a sweat. But it's just right when paired with the vegetables and noodles. Be sure to give it a try.
