Refreshing Summer Desserts in Kawagoe! Footbath Cafe Tsubakiya
Kawagoe’s Footbath Cafe Tsubakiya is a mini-retreat this summer! Stylish cool desserts combined with refreshing vivid drinks and soothing footbaths have come together to create the ultimate relaxation spot near Tokyo.
If you are in Tokyo this summer then you know just how hot it is. Nevertheless, Japan's summer traditions, food, and festivals make the heat all worth it! Just a short trip from the center of Tokyo, you can arrive in Kawagoe, a city with a historical townscape visited by many people wearing yukata (light summer kimonos) in the summer.
Among the many charming shops lining the streets of Kawagoe, Footbath Cafe TSUBAKIYA has created a mini sanctuary this summer! Sheltered from the sun, visitors can relax with colorful drinks and ice-cold desserts while sitting on tatami mats and soft cushions in a relaxing space.
A delightful footbath installation has been created in the store's Japanese garden. Visitors are greeted by colorful umbrellas, and seasonal blooming flowers and trees. Comfortable cute cushions are provided to relax on and the water temperature is adjusted according to the temperature outside.
With the highest temperature being lukewarm on a day with temperatures of 25 to 29 Celsius degrees, the footbaths are sure to soothe and cool you down. On days with temperatures over 30 degrees Celsius, the footbath's temperature is set even lower to ensure that guests are comfortable. Moreover, guests are provided towels upon arrival.
Refreshing Desserts and Colorful Drinks
Limited edition kakigori (shaved ice) desserts are here to cool everyone down!
Offered until the end of September, three delicious and refreshing kakigori desserts have been added to the menu: Kawagoe Matcha Kintoki Ice (with green tea and sweet potato, both local specialties), Raw Strawberry Milk Ice, and Sweet Potato Milk Espuma Ice.
Each kakigori dessert costs 1,980 yen. These divine summer treats are sure to cool those who order them!
Moreover, three colorful ice cream floats are included in the shop's menu. Each float drink contains Japanese jelly made by a long-established Kawagoe confectionery shop.
Guests can choose from delicious strawberry, melon, and cider flavors. Due to their popularity, the drinks may sell out of stock quickly, so it's best to go there early!
