Kobe City Suma Rikyu Park is located a 10-minute walk from Tsukimiyama Station, Sumadera Station, or Higashi-Suma Station on the Sanyo Railway. It was originally a villa built in 1914 as Muko Imperial Villa, where the Emperor would stay overnight, but the main buildings, including the palace, were destroyed in the 1945 Kobe Air Raid.

After that, it was requisitioned by the Occupation Forces for a time, but was returned to Kobe City in 1956 and opened as Kobe City Suma Rikyu Park (hereinafter referred to as "Suma Rikyu Park") in 1967.

The garden is planted with seasonal flowers, and you can enjoy various varieties of flowers throughout the year. Among them, the ``Royal Rose Garden'', ``Rose History and Culture Garden'', and ``World Hall of Fame Rose Garden'', which are at their best from May to June and from October to November, have about 4,000 roses of about 180 species. You can see all the roses in one place, and many people visit every year.

The royal and aristocratic rose gardens are symmetrical around the fountain, and are characterized by the fact that they are planted with almost the same variety of roses. The ``Royals and Nobles Collection'' includes roses with the names of imperial families, royal families, and artists, such as ``Princess Michiko,'' ``Masako (Eglantine),'' and ``Queen Elizabeth.''

You can enjoy a variety of flowers throughout the year, such as plum blossoms in February, peonies in April, irises and hydrangeas in June, autumn leaves in autumn, and camellias from December to April, so if you visit each season, You can enjoy different scenery.

The botanical garden located on the east side of the park has a ``conservatory'' where subtropical and tropical plants are displayed. Special exhibitions such as the "Poinsettia Exhibition" will also be held, so be sure to check them out.

At Suma Rikyu Park, we have been installing beehives for beekeeping outside the public area of ​​the park since 2019 under the title of the Bee Kobe Project. The collected honey is commercialized under the brand name ``RIKYU HONEY'' (from 1,200 yen). The nectar collected from flowers in the garden and surrounding areas is said to be highly fragrant and delicious.

In addition to honey, we also have hand creams made using beeswax, and ``Likyu Honey Hosyokan'' (350 yen) made in collaboration with a Japanese confectionery shop in Tarumi. Hand cream is on sale at the main gate and east gate toll booths, as well as the restaurant ``GARDEN PARTAGE Suma Rikyu.'' Hoshokan is on sale at Tarumi and Suma Confectionery Association member stores.

There is also a playground recommended for families with children.

Suma Rikyu Park, where you can fully enjoy nature such as flowers and greenery, also has a playground where families with children can enjoy. Especially recommended is the ``Field Athletics -Children's Forest Adventure Course'', which has 28 play equipment arranged in a row.

It's an adventure story, so it's exciting. Move your body as much as you can and play to your heart's content.

You can bring your own lunch to Suma Rikyu Park, and on nice days you can often see people spreading out their leisure seats or sitting on benches enjoying their lunch time. There are covered tables and benches in the ``Bento Square'' adjacent to ``Field Athletic -Children's Forest Adventure Course-'', so it's a good idea to eat there.

``Tokachi Wheat and Fresh Koji Bubble Waffle'' (825 yen) can be topped with pure honey ``RIKYU HONEY'' (or maple syrup) produced within the park.

Plate sets are popular at lunchtime. This ``Awaji Chicken Nanban'' (1,573 yen) is a dish that goes well with rice, with the perfect combination of juicy chicken and homemade tartar sauce.

The tender texture of the chicken is irresistible!

Outside the store, we also sell take-out items such as bento boxes and drinks. ``Rikyu Honey Lemon Soda'' (693 yen for eat-in, 550 yen for take-out) contains lemon pickled in ``RIKYU HONEY'' and has a refreshing scent. It's a refreshing drink that you can enjoy in hot weather.
