Genji-koh, located in the Minamichita hot spring village of Aichi Prefecture, is based on the concept of the world of the Heian nobility, which is the setting for the taiga drama "Hikaru Kimi e." Why not enjoy the world of your dreams at our hotel?

Latest update :

Juni-hitoe experience

When you think of the Heian period, the first thing that comes to mind is the ``Junihitoe'', in which women wore many layers of clothing. The bright colors catch the eye. At Genji-koh, you can actually wear it for a fee and advance reservation is required. Customers who have actually worn it have said that it is ``hot'' and ``heavy'', but it looks like they are having a lot of fun.

In addition, the ``Uchikake experience'', where you put on a hot kimono called ``Uchikake'' and use your own camera, is free and does not require a reservation, and is held during open hours at the front desk.

Heian-style hospitality

Genji-koh has designs and illustrations based on the concept of ``Heian nobility'' throughout the hotel and its food. The photo is an example of this, where we celebrate birthday customers with a plate with an illustration of the Juni-Hitoe and the Heian aristocrat "Sokutai".

Additionally, there are panels scattered throughout the museum that provide summaries of The Tale of Genji and trivia about the Heian period. As you tour the museum, you may become familiar with Heian culture.

Rental books on The Tale of Genji (English versions are also available!)

Our museum has all volumes of The Tale of Genji (translated by Jakucho Setouchi) on display in the lobby. Guests staying at the hotel can take this book home with them to their rooms and read it at their leisure. You can immerse yourself in the world of drama, try your best to read all 10 volumes, read the volume of your own room as the rooms are named after the volume title, or enjoy the elegant writing. You can enjoy it.

We also have bilingual comics called ``Asaki Yumemishi'' (Kazunori Yamato) for those who can't read Japanese but can read English, or those who aren't good at writing but want manga. Although this publication only covers the first half of The Tale of Genji, it is perfect for those who want to try reading it.

Tosenkyo

Tosenkyo, the practice of throwing a fan at a target, has an image of Heian aristocrats, but it actually began in the Edo period. At our hotel, in order to enjoy the elegant atmosphere, you can enjoy it for free from 8:30 to 9:00 p.m., with no reservations required. There are rules when throwing, and the score changes depending on how the target and the fan fall, but above all, it's really fun to throw! One day, the next time, I'll be hooked again.

A plan to enjoy the elegant world at Minamichita Onsenkyo Genji-koh

What I have listed here are only representative ones. If possible, I would like to take a video of the inside of the museum to show you how much the concept is based on the Heian period. If you want to enjoy the Heian period after watching ``Hikaru Kimi e'', please come to our museum.

Also, with this plan, you can stay in a designer room where you can enjoy the Heian period even more. Also, you can definitely enjoy the Juni-Hitoe experience.
