Experience Komatsu's traditional restaurant culture that has continued since the Edo period

With the opening of Komatsu Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen in March 2024, the "Komatsu Okami Kotama no Wa" group was formed by the female proprietresses of restaurants and inns in Komatsu City with the aim of "spreading the traditional Japanese restaurant culture of Komatsu, where you can enjoy Kaga cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere." In collaboration with "GODIVA Café," which conveys the worldview of GODIVA, a luxury chocolate brand that is a supplier to the Belgian royal family, new menu items have been developed at each Kotama no Wa store, and will be available for a limited time from June to August.

This year, Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, celebrates the 50th anniversary of its sister city affiliation with Vilvoorde, Belgium. Due to this connection, Godiva, which originated in Belgium, is supporting the friendly relationship between the two cities. Godiva Japan Co., Ltd. dispatched a chef from GODIVA café, which is operated in the Tokyo area, to nine Japanese-style inns and restaurants managed by females in Komatsu, and supervised the creation of original desserts using Godiva chocolate and cocoa sauce.

Komatsu City is where Maeda Toshitsune, the third head of the Kaga Maeda clan, retired. Toshitsune built a castle town in Komatsu City where he retired and is said to have generously invested his vast wealth in the development of culture. In particular, he employed Senso Soshitsu, the first head of the Urasenke school, here, which is said to have helped spread the tea ceremony culture not only among the samurai but also among the townspeople of Komatsu.

The original desserts incorporate barley from Komatsu and other ingredients from Ishikawa Prefecture, and are served in traditional Ishikawa crafts such as colorful Kutani ware and Wajima lacquerware, which has been designated an Important Intangible Cultural Property of Japan, epitomizing the unique style of each store.
Enjoy a luxurious moment chatting with the hostess while savoring seasonal delicacies presented on beautiful plates in a private room decorated with hospitality. Take this opportunity to experience Komatsu's traditional restaurant culture.
