The "NishimonaiBon Odori" is a traditional event passesd down in Ugo-machi, AkitaPrefecture, where people wear costumes made of stitched silk and a pitch-backHikosa Zukin (hood) and other unique costumes and beatiful dances.

It is considered oneof Japan's top three Bon Dances, along with Gifu Prefecture's Gujo Odori andTokushima Prefecture's Awa Odori.

In November 2022, itwas registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage as one of the"Furyu Odori" dances.
