What is the Terasaka Rice Terrace Firefly Bonfire Festival?

Bonfires, starry skies, and musical instruments create a fantastical space you can't experience in the city - you might even see some fireflies!
*As these are native fireflies, you may not be able to see them depending on the weather, etc.
This event has been held since 2007 as a way for people involved in rice terraces to become more familiar with the subject.
☆To see the beautiful rice terrace scenery created by the bonfires,
Now, many people come to the event, including local residents and people from far away.
Although it is located just 80 minutes from Ikebukuro Station, please come and experience a fantastical space that you cannot experience in the city.
Please note that the parking lot on the south side of the rice terraces will be closed from July 5th (Friday) to July 7th (Sunday) due to preparations.

Saturday, July 6, 2024 Rain or shine, but stormy weather will cancel the event.
18:00~21:00: Approximately 600 bonfires will be lit.
18:00~20:30 Concert in the middle of the rice paddy ~Instrument performances, etc.~

The parking lot on the south side of Terasaka Rice Terraces is not available.
*There is a shortage of parking spaces, so we recommend coming by train.

By train: 15 minutes walk from Yokoze Station on the Seibu Chichibu Line
★Shuttle bus available from Yokoze Station (7/6 only) *Please take the Komatsuzawa Leisure Farm bus
Shuttle bus operating hours: 17:00-21:00, every 30 minutes
Directions: Yokoze Station - Parking lot behind the town hall - Rice terraces - Town ground - Buko Onsen - Yokoze Station

By car: Yokozemachi Community Center outdoor parking lot along National Route 299 (8 minutes on foot)
Chichibu Yumoto Buko Onsen Parking Lot (15 minutes walk)
Yokozemachi Community Ground Parking Lot (8 minutes walk)

The event takes place during the rainy season, so the grounds within the venue (the rice terrace ridges) will become muddy and slippery due to rain during the event.
We recommend that you bring rain boots or comfortable shoes that you don't mind getting dirty, a long-sleeved shirt, and a light to illuminate your feet.
