What is Fukunone?

Welcome to Fukui, everyone. Fukunone is a guidebook packed with experiences for your trip to Fukui.

The Hokuriku Shinkansen will finally arrive in Fukui in the spring of 2024. Amid a mood of joy and celebration, Fukunone has prepared a variety of plans that will allow you to experience the deep attraction of Fukui.

You will be greeted by the hospitable locals. Why not enjoy chatting with them and experiencing something unique to Fukui?

This is the start of a journey full of wonderful encounters that you would not notice by simply visiting tourist spots.

This time, we have created three courses from Fukunone vol.11 😄 All of them start in front of Fukui Station, making them perfect for tourists! Now, let us introduce this model course, "② Course to experience the shopping district in front of the station and history"!

② Course to experience the shopping district in front of the station and history

Today we would like to introduce "② Course to experience the shopping district in front of the station and history ". The area around Fukui Station is undergoing redevelopment, with new facilities and buildings being constructed, but if you turn a corner, you'll find a shopping district and historical buildings. It's a mysterious town! Today we will introduce a model course around the shopping district and historical spots in front of Fukui Station, which has a calm atmosphere. :)

START! Fukui Station

This model course starts from JR Fukui Station.

Fukui is famous as the dinosaur kingdom. Many dinosaurs are waiting for you around Fukui Station! There are 21 dinosaur monuments in total! There are also wall decorations around the station! Try to find various dinosaurs 👀❕✨

"Echizen Soba Making Experience" at Echizen Soba Club

From here on, we will introduce the experiences featured in "Fukunone vol.11"!

First of all, it's a 2-minute walk from Fukui Station! It's an experience that you can only get in Fukui, where you can enjoy delicious seafood.

You will experience making soba noodles using buckwheat flour from Fukui Prefecture, which has a strong aroma and sweetness. You can taste the soba noodles you make on the spot or take them home as a souvenir. Enjoy the taste of the soba noodles you made yourself.

"F's original fabric ~ Making original straps using fabrics from Fukui Prefecture ~" at 7amour Viruxiny

After filling your stomach with the Echizen Soba Club experience, why not try making soba using fabric from Fukui, a city with a thriving textile industry? ☺

From Echizen Soba Club, just 10 minutes walk down Kitanosho Street! We will introduce 7amour Viruxiny's "F's original fabric - Make your own original straps using fabric from Fukui Prefecture"!

This is an experience where you can make a strap using fabric from Fukui, a city famous for its textile industry. Let's enjoy making straps together with a designer from Paris, France, who has a lovely smile! Let's create original pieces that show off each of our personalities. (The "F" in the experience name is an acronym for France and Fukui.)

Kitanosho Castle Site and Shibata Shrine

Once you have completed your one-of-a-kind strap, we would love for you to visit Shibata Shrine, located at the site of Kitanosho Castle, which was built by Shibata Katsuie!

Shibata Shrine, located at the site of Kitanosho Castle, is a one-minute walk from 7amour. This is the site of Kitanosho Castle, where Oda Nobunaga's retainer Shibata Katsuie and his wife Oichi lived and later committed suicide after being attacked. Currently, Shibata Shrine stands on the site of Kitanosho Castle and enshrines Shibata Katsuie and his wife Oichi. As the shrine enshrines three daughters, the "three princesses," it is known as the "Shrine of Bonds," where the gods grant bonds between couples, siblings, families, and people (such as lovers).

By the way... Oichi is known as one of the three most beautiful women in Japan, is famous as the most beautiful woman in the Sengoku period. Therefore, you can experience a prayer for beauty (mote) to attract all kinds of men and find a good match! 🎀✨

There are many other places in Fukui City that are related to Lord Shibata Katsuie and Oichi. Please visit not only the places introduced here but also other places.

"Wakasa Lacquer Chopsticks Polishing & Echizen Pottery Chopstick Rest Polishing Experience" at Fukuninnki Happiring Store

After visiting Kitanosho Castle Site and Shibata Shrine and experiencing Fukui's history to the fullest, we recommend experiencing history from the perspective of crafts! It's a 3-minute walk from Kitanosho Castle Site and Shibata Shrine through the Fukui Station Shopping Arcade. Finally, we would like to introduce the "Wakasa Lacquer Chopstick Polishing & Echizen Pottery Chopstick Rest Polishing Experience" held at Fukuninnki Happiring Store (^▽^)/

[Wakasa Lacquer Chopstick Polishing & Echizen Pottery Chopstick Rest Polishing Experience]

This plan allows you to experience two traditional crafts of Fukui. You will try your hand at polishing Wakasa-nuri chopsticks and Echizen-yaki chopstick rests. After the experience, please relax with some local Fukui sweets and juice or coffee.
