What is Balloon Glow & Tethered Flight? Introducing the appeal of this event!

Balloon Glow and tethered flights are unique experiences that allow you to enjoy an aerial adventure that you normally can't experience.

These two events allow you to experience the fantastic sights and sensation of floating in the air brought about by a hot air balloon at the same time, and both experiences are sure to become unforgettable memories.

The setting for the event we are introducing this time will be Saigū in Meiwa-cho, Mie Prefecture, which can be reached in about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Nagoya.

Saigū is the palace where imperial women known as "Saio" lived in service to Ise Jingū during the Heian period. It is not just a historical site, but a symbolic place in Japanese culture with a long history that continues to hold special meaning for many people.

You can enjoy fascinating events such as a hot air balloon launch and Matsusaka beef barbecue at Saigū, which played an important role in Japan's ancient history!

Balloon Glow & Tethered Flight Experience

Balloon Glow is a nighttime event where hot air balloons are lit up.

When the inflated hot air balloon is lit with a burner, the inside is illuminated with a warm light, creating a fantastical sight, as if a giant lantern was floating in the sky.

The colorful hot air balloons glow in the darkness and appear to be alive and breathing, transporting the viewer into a dream world.

On a tethered flight, a person actually boards a balloon and floats up to a height of 20 to 30 meters while tethered to a rope.

You can experience a unique sense of floating that you can't get just by looking up from the ground, and from high up you can enjoy a beautiful 360-degree panoramic view of the truly fantastical Saigū.

You will also be able to take part in the launch of a hot air balloon, an experience that is rarely available to you, and of course you will be able to take photos.

Spend a special evening with a Matsusaka beef BBQ and music concert

Along with the hot air balloon event, you can also enjoy music concerts and barbecues using Matsusaka beef, one of Japan's three great wagyu beef brands.

The music concert will feature performances using traditional Japanese instruments, and the moving sounds, coupled with the historical background of Saigū, will fill the venue.

At the barbecue, you can also enjoy Matsusaka beef, which is a must-try when visiting Mie Prefecture.

Matsusaka beef, characterized by its beautiful marbling and rich flavor, is a luxurious dish that meat lovers will love, and is a high-quality meat that is rarely available on a regular basis.

Enjoying local delicacies, making a fire and listening to music in the moonlit venue will surely be an unforgettable experience.

*Hot air balloons are a type of transportation that is greatly affected by the weather, so flights will be canceled in the event of rain or strong winds.

Access to the meeting point "Saigū Station"

The meeting point, Kintetsu Saigū Station, can be accessed by train or car from central Mie Prefecture.

It is located about 20 minutes by car from Ujiyamada Station, where Ise Shrine, one of the prefecture's most popular tourist spots, is located. You can enjoy sightseeing at Ise in the morning and stop by Saigū in the afternoon.

Meiwa Town, located between Matsusaka City and Ise City in Mie Prefecture, is actually very easy to access for those staying overnight.

Be sure to include Saigū in your travel itinerary.

Access from Aichi area

[Access by train]

1. Take the Kintetsu Limited Express from Kintetsu Nagoya Station.

Journey time: Approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes (Nagoya Station → Isenakagawa Station) Price: Approximately 3,000 yen (including reserved seat fee)

2. Change to the Kintetsu Yamada Line at Ise-Nakagawa Station and get off at Saigū Station.

Time required: about 10 minutes; Cost: 180 yen

①From Nagoya city, get on the Tomei-Han Expressway and proceed to the Ise Expressway.

2) Head south on the Ise Expressway and exit at Tamaki IC.

3) Take the local road from Tamaki IC to Saigū Station.

Travel time: Approximately 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours (if there is no traffic)

Access from the Osaka area

[Access by train]

1. Take the Kintetsu Limited Express from Osaka-Namba Station.

Journey time: Approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes (Osaka-Namba Station → Ise-Nakagawa Station) Price: Approximately 3,500 yen (including reserved seat fee)

2.At Ise-Nakagawa Station, change to the Kintetsu Yamada Line and get off at Saigū Station.

Time required: about 10 minutes. Cost: 180 yen.

[Access by car]

①From Osaka city, enter the Hanshin Expressway and proceed onto the Nishi-Meihan Expressway.

2) Take the Nishi-Meihan Expressway to the Ise Expressway.

3) Head south on the Ise Expressway and exit at Tamaki IC.

④ Take the local road from Tamaki IC to Saigū Station.

Travel time: Approximately 2 hours 10 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes (if there is no traffic jam)
