The "Experience Heian Art Program," an event where you can experience the beauty and elegance of Japan's Heian period, will be held at Saigū in Meiwa-cho, Mie Prefecture on November 1, 2024.

The special exhibition uses modern technology to express the charm of Heian culture through digital art, vividly bringing to life the court life and culture of Saigū, making you feel as if you have traveled back in time to the Heian period.

Saigū is a special place where unmarried imperial women who served Ise Shrine lived during the Heian period in Japan.

These women were called "Saio" and the Emperor's sisters or daughters played this role. Saigū was a sacred place and the Saio was chosen to pray for the peace of the nation and to perform sacred duties.

Although it is not widely known, the activities at Saigū had a major impact on Japan's classical literature and traditional culture, and its history and culture are still passed down to this day.
