The taste of plum wine varies greatly depending on the type of plum, sugar, and alcohol (125 different patterns with 5 types of each). Oarai Town is full of charm. There are two ways to access it: from Tokyo or from Ibaraki Airport.
From Tokyo
If you are heading to Oarai from Tokyo, take the JR Joban Line Limited Express from JR Ueno Station and get off at Mito Station (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes). From Mito Station, transfer to the Kashima Rinkai Railway Oarai Kashima Line and travel for about 15 minutes to Oarai Station.
The Ibaraki Kotsu express bus is also convenient, and you can get to Oarai in about two and a half hours by direct bus from Tokyo Station Yaesu South Exit. There are also direct buses from Narita Airport, and you can reach Oarai Station in just under two hours.
From Ibaraki Airport
From Ibaraki Airport, take the airport shuttle bus to Mito Station in about 40 minutes, then transfer to the Kashima Rinkai Railway to Oarai Station in about 15 minutes.
