Established in 1969 in Uji, Kyoto, the Nintendo Uji Ogura Factory was originally a toy manufacturing plant. After over half a century, Nintendo has transformed it into a franchise recognized worldwide.

The history of Nintendo will be featured at the Nintendo Museum, which is scheduled to open on October 2 in Uji.

The facility will be divided into three main themes: Knowledge, Experience, and Creation and Fun, inviting gaming enthusiasts to once again experience the charm of Nintendo games!

Located on the second floor of the first exhibition building, the exhibit showcases Nintendo's past products sold in Japan and abroad, including playing cards, the Famicom (NES), and retro games that require full-body engagement.

Additionally, there are unexpected items like photocopiers and baby carriages that differ greatly from the usual Nintendo image.

Located on the first floor of the first exhibition building is the interactive experience area, a highlight not to be missed by gaming enthusiasts! Here, modern technology is combined with Nintendo's past classic games and consoles to offer new and enjoyable experiences.

For example, there are mini-games centered around traditional Japanese card game "Hyakunin Isshu," home gaming consoles and related merchandise, as well as toys like the 1960s Nintendo creations such as the Ultra Machine, Ultra Hand, and Love Tester.

Additionally, visitors can play with a giant version of the Famicom controller, or engage in shadow play with the Game & Watch SP.

Upon entering the museum, each visitor receives 10 game coins, which are required to play on the various gaming machines.

This setup creates an atmosphere akin to a large amusement park, where the limited coins in hand enhance the excitement and anticipation of the gaming experiences!

In the Creation and Fun area, visitors can engage in the actual creation of Hanafuda cards. Even those unfamiliar with the rules of Hanafuda or beginners can easily experience this through image recognition and projection technology.

*There are two experiential activities in this area that require advance booking on the day of visit, with experience fees ranging from 500 to 2,000 Japanese yen, and approximately half an hour to one hour required for each activity.

The museum's attached café, HATENA BURGER, offers special drinks and customizable burgers based on preferences. Despite its simple decor at first glance, it is filled with Nintendo's distinct features throughout!

The central area features stained glass art in the style of The Legend of Zelda, booth seating references Mario with brick walls, and posters from Animal Crossing: New Horizons that can be obtained at the museum.
