Praying with the Saio on a full moon night: A special evening visit to Takejinja Shrine

The Saio's Prayer will be held at Takejinja Shrine in Saigū, Meiwa-chō on November 16, 2024.

On nights of the full moon, the Saio walks along the approach to the shrine, is purified at the purification gate, and then makes an offering of tamagushi and pays homage to the shrine in front of the main hall.

The Saio will be appearing as the Saio for the 41st Saio Festival, and you can take photos of her in her gorgeous twelve-layered kimono at various locations within the temple grounds.
