Lake Notoro coral grass community area

The Notoroko Coral Grass Colony is said to be the largest in Japan, with the grass starting to change color in mid-August and reaching its best viewing time by late September. Also known as "Akkeshisou", the grass is green in summer but turns red in autumn, covering the shores of Lake Abashiri like a carpet. The grass changes color a little earlier than the autumn leaves, and you can enjoy the coral grass spreading across the wooden promenade up close. It is convenient to access by car.
