What is Kyoto's photography studio "HAGOROMOYA"?

HAGOROMOYA is a photo studio specializing in Japanese clothing that opened in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City in 2024. It is located near historical tourist attractions such as Gion, Yasaka Shrine, and Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and is easily accessible from Kyoto's major tourist spots.

HAGOROMOYA offers a photo plan where you can choose a historical Japanese landscape to shoot in the studio. It is a virtual background shoot using the latest technology. In addition, there are optional plans that allow you to enjoy shooting and walking around the city of Kyoto, and experience riding a rickshaw.

Another attractive feature is that the staff, who have extensive experience in the wedding industry, handle everything from dressing, hair styling, and photography.

Introducing HAGOROMOYA's "Photo Plan"!

HAGOROMOYA's photo plans are divided into the following plans.

・OOKU PLAN
・SHOGUN PLAN
・KIMONO PLAN

・WARABE PLAN

OOKU PLAN

During its heyday in the Edo period (1603-1868), more than 2,000 women lived in the Ooku. In the OOKU PLAN, you can wear a gorgeous uchikake as a costume, and the set will evoke the Ooku's era, creating an even more elegant atmosphere.

*Ooku was a special place for women only, located within the castle where the Shogun lived during the Edo period (1603-1868). It was where the Shogun's wife, family, and maids (women who looked after him) lived, and men were rarely allowed inside. It is known as a special world where women lived, even in the history of Japan.

SHOGUN PLAN

In the SHOGUN PLAN, you can wear an elaborately reproduced suit of armor and have your picture taken as a legendary "Samurai." The texture and decoration of the armor are authentic, making this a must-have plan for fans of history and Japanese culture.

The Shogun was the supreme military commander appointed by the Emperor, and wielded overwhelming power over the samurai. Dressed as a samurai, a symbol of Japanese history, you can have a special experience as if you were transported to a scene from the Warring States period.

KIMONO PLAN

Japanese traditional clothing has different beauty and stories for each era.

With this plan, you can enjoy your photo shoot by choosing your favorite style from among the attire symbolizing each era, such as "Haori Hakama", "Hitatare", "Kamisama" and "Kimono"

Japan has traditional costumes that were popular in each era, and each costume has its own unique characteristics. Why not try wearing traditional Japanese costumes and experience a one-of-a-kind experience that makes you feel like you've stepped into history?

MEOTO PLAN

This plan combines the OOKU PLAN and the SHOGUN PLAN and is recommended for couples or partners. Spot makeup and background selection are available just like the other plans.

FAMILY PLAN

The FAMILY PLAN is a combination of the MEOTO PLAN and the WARABE PLAN for one person, which will be introduced later. If you have more children, you can add the child plan and take photos of the whole family. It seems like it would be a great way to take a special photo for Shichi-Go-San or anniversaries.

WARABE PLAN

"Warabe" is an old Japanese word that refers to children up to about 10 years old.

The costumes provided in the WARABE PLAN are those worn in the traditional Japanese event "Shichi-Go-San" which is still held today, and are filled with wishes for the child's growth and happiness.

STOREFRONT SHOOT

HAGOROMOYS is located in the elegant area of Gion, Kyoto, near Shirakawa and Tatsumibashi. This area is also a popular filming location for TV shows and movies.

In the "location photo shoot in front of the store," you can take a special photo in traditional Japanese clothing with the historic streetscape as your backdrop. A professional photographer will be in charge of the photos, helping you to capture beautiful memories of your trip.

RICKSHAW

Rickshaws were popular among people from the Meiji period through the early Showa period. This option allows you to experience a graceful tour of the streets of Kyoto on this traditional vehicle.

This option offers a unique experience as you explore the beautiful streets of Kyoto in a traditional rickshaw.

Enjoy a special time in a rickshaw while wearing a beautiful kimono and experiencing traditional Japanese culture. You can take photos with your own camera, so you can keep the memories of your trip forever.

*Please note that you will not be able to choose the armor when taking photos at the location in front of the store.
This option is available until 12:00 noon.
*Photos will be taken by yourself using your own camera.
