For those who want to relax and enjoy alcohol and gourmet food in the vast nature of Hokkaido , we recommend Naganuma Town , located Nakama between Sapporo and New Chitose . Spending time with a glass of wine from a local distillery while overlooking the Ishikari Plain is truly a relaxing experience.

This time, through a two- Tomari, one-night trip, we will introduce spots where you can encounter unique flavors and scenery of Naganuma , including the Umaoi Distillery, Michi-no-Eki (Roadside Station) gourmet food, and soft-serve ice cream specialty shops.

About 30 minutes by car from New Chitose, we first headed to the Umaoi Distillery, which stands on top of a hill. Here, not only wine but also brandy and whiskey are distilled.

At the distillery, you can choose your favorite wine with the staff's detailed explanation. When tasting, we recommend wines made from rare varieties of wild grapes such as "Himaraya" and "Iwamatsu." Red wines with a sour and astringent taste go perfectly with Genghis Khan and game meat.

The ingredients for wine and brandy are also sourced locally or from neighboring towns, placing great importance on local production and consumption.

After purchasing the wine, we headed to the terrace of "MAOI SALUD" on the mountain behind the restaurant, which we had reserved in advance. After passing through the Mori, an endless rural landscape and blue sky awaited us.

On this terrace, some people toast with friends or as a couple, while others enjoy reading alone. People spend their free time surrounded by nature.

I toasted with orange wine, and he, being the driver, with local juice. Drinking a glass while surrounded by the Hokkaido sky and breeze was a special experience.

Leaving the terrace behind, we went to "Pizzeria Tonino" located in the " Michi-no-Eki (Roadside Station) Park Roadside Station" next to the hotel. Here, you can enjoy authentic Neapolitan pizza baked in a wood-fired oven using wheat from Hokkaido .

The recommended dishes are the simple "Margherita" and the " Naganuma Rustica" made with Naganuma mutton, which goes perfectly with orange wine.

According to the restaurant staff, the vegetables and cheese are also locally produced. It was a luxurious pizza lunch where we could fully enjoy the local bounty.

Before the evening, I went to the Michi-no-Eki (Roadside Station) station to look for snacks. Among the many options, I chose:

・Gensen Teage: Deep-fried tofu, a Naganuma specialty

・Salted tofu: Rich, cheese-like flavor

・Jalapeño pickled in soy sauce: Slightly spicy and perfect with alcohol

All of these products are from the local tofu shop "Gensen Tofu" and are perfect to go with wine or beer. They also make great souvenirs.

After the meal, we stopped off for dessert at a soft serve ice cream shop that has been loved by locals for many years, **"Aichu Land."** Attracted by the unique name and sign, we entered the shop and noticed that locals were visiting one after another.

I chose a fresh strawberry crepe and soft serve ice cream, and he chose a simple vanilla ice cream. Both were rich and packed with the deliciousness of Hokkaido milk.

The name "Aichu Land" was inspired by Iceland. The packaging illustrations drawn by the owner's daughter are also popular.

We stayed at the Fairfield by Marriott Hokkaido Naganuma Maoi no Oka Park Hotel, adjacent to the Michi-no-Eki (Roadside Station) . In addition to simple and comfortable rooms, we could relax and enjoy our own food and wine in the lounge.

We toasted some "Gensen Tegaki" in the toaster in the lobby lounge and had some snacks. He seemed happy that he could finally drink. We talked about our travel memories while looking at the sunset sky outside the window.
