NIFREL: A new staple for Osaka tourism!

The Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan has become a staple of Osaka tourism, but have you heard of NIFREL, a completely new genre of museum produced by the aquarium?

Nifrel is located on the site of the 1970 Osaka Expo, close to Expo Commemoration Park, whose symbol is the Tower of the Sun. As a museum offering a one-of-a-kind experience, it is likely to become a new staple spot for tourists in Osaka .

This is a multi-purpose museum, not an aquarium, so it houses a variety of creatures, including beavers, Asian small-clawed otters, lemurs, and lizards. Although it is an indoor facility, it also houses a white tiger!

Why not visit this new type of facility, which is based on the concept of touching your senses and has the theme of "the connection between diverse life and individuality," and incorporates exhibition techniques from aquariums, zoos, and art museums?

Nifrel's standard business hours are from 10:00 to 18:00, but opening hours vary depending on the day. There are no fixed closing days, but they are closed once a year for inspections. Opening hours are published up to six months in advance, so be sure to check before you go. There are also sometimes night events held after regular opening hours!

There are three usage fee categories.

Adults (high school students and those aged 16 and over): 2,200 yen

Children (elementary and junior high school students): 1,100 yen
