Sevenjyo Kanshundo Co., Ltd., a Kyoto wagashi maker founded in 1865, has launched a new year‑round lineup of Pokémon‑themed Kyoto confections called Pokémon Kyogashi. The collection, blending traditional wagashi techniques and seasonal Kyoto motifs with iconic Pokémon characters, became available in select stores on October 25, 2025, and opened for nationwide online sales on October 20, 2025.

The initiative is part of the company’s effort to make the artisanry and aesthetics of Kyogashi more accessible to a wider audience, including families and younger consumers, by pairing time‑honored ingredients, handcraftsmanship and Kyoto cultural references with globally recognized pop‑culture characters.

Sevenjyo Kanshundo has been experimenting with Pokémon motifs since autumn 2023, producing seasonal releases tied to Kyoto’s traditional events and landscape. Following strong demand and instances of sellouts for limited seasonal runs, the company expanded the concept to a permanent offering that includes new Pokémon designs.

The collection aims to introduce traditional Kyoto confectionery (kyogashi) to customers who may be unfamiliar with wagashi, while honoring the craftsmanship of wooden molds, wasanbon sugar, and hand‑painted decorations practiced by the firm’s artisans.
