①Matsusaka Castle Ruins

The ruins of Matsusaka Castle are the site of Matsusaka Castle, which was built by Lord Gamou Ujisato in 1588, and are now a symbol of Matsusaka , with their magnificent Ishigaki remaining.

Approximately 250 cherry trees, including Somei Yoshino cherry trees, are in full bloom on the grounds.

② Shun'okuji Temple

Located within the grounds of Shun'okuji Temple, the Edohigan cherry tree is designated as a city monument.

It is an ancient tree estimated to be about 400 years old, with a trunk circumference of 4m and a height and branch spread of about 10m. The Edohigan cherry blossoms reach their peak about a week earlier than more typical cherry blossoms such as Somei Yoshino, first blooming with deep pink flowers that gradually fade to white.

Edohigan cherry trees are also lined up along the riverbank near Shun'okuji Temple. Together with the Edohigan cherry tree in the temple grounds, which is estimated to be about 400 years old, it is a famous spot.
