First up is Hakone Gora Karakyu, which was selected for the Michelin Guide Hotel Selection for two consecutive years, 2024 and 2025. Gora Karakyu is famous for its breathtaking open-air baths, "Sokai" and "Myojo." At "Sokai," you can enjoy an immersive view that makes you feel at one with nature, with the mountains and Sagami Bay as a backdrop. The refreshing blue of the sky is reflected on the water's surface, giving you the invigorating feeling of floating on the sea, and you'll feel refreshed both physically and mentally. At "Myojo," you can enjoy the magnificent view of Mt. Myojogatake, which shows different expressions in each of the four seasons. Enjoy the changing seasons, such as fresh greenery, autumn leaves, and snowscapes, while savoring the Japanese-style setting that makes use of the warmth of wood and earth.

For "Aokai," we recommend visiting in the morning when the refreshing sunlight streams in, while for "Myojo," we recommend visiting just before sunset when the sky's gradient vividly colors the mountains. The scenery of the large public baths changes depending on the time of day and season. Each bath is switched between men and women from 5:00 to 10:00 and from 15:00 to 24:00, so please try to find your "best time" and season.

After relaxing in the hot springs, head to the guest-only lounge "AWAI". From 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, it's free-flow time, where you can enjoy drinks including alcohol and finger foods. You can also take a stroll through the "Water Terrace" and "Forest Terrace" on the premises, and refresh your mind and body amidst nature and tranquility.

For those who want to enjoy the hot springs in a more special setting, a private bath is recommended.

Our recommendation is the "Shiki no Rotenburo Tanayu," two large public baths overlooking the lake and the forest. Each bath has a different concept, soothing the hearts of visitors. One is the "Garden View," which showcases the changing seasons with fresh greenery, autumn leaves, and snowscapes. The other is the "Lake Ashi View," overlooking Lake Ashi. In both, you can enjoy different photogenic moments depending on the time of day, such as being enveloped in the soft light of morning mist or watching the sunset melt into the lakeside while soaking in the hot springs. The baths are available from 5:00 to 10:00 and from 15:00 to 24:00, with separate times for men and women, so please enjoy both baths.
