Tokyo Disneyland's Tomorrowland will take on a brand-new look in 2027, including the new attraction Space Mountain Earthrise and a new plaza called Tomorrowland Plaza.

Space Mountain Earthrise Brings a New Roller Coaster Experience

Space Mountain

Space Mountain is an exhilarating indoor roller coaster that takes guests on a high-speed journey through outer space. Since Tokyo Disneyland opened in 1983, the attraction has remained a favorite among countless visitors.

This classic attraction is set to undergo a complete transformation. Scheduled to debut in 2027, Space Mountain Earthrise will be completely renewed, from the building itself to the ride system. While retaining the indoor roller coaster format, the attraction will introduce a new space-themed story along with special lighting, sound, and other effects.

In addition to using light and sound effects to recreate various cosmic phenomena, the attraction will introduce an onboard audio system for the first time on a roller coaster at Tokyo Disney Resort, creating an even more immersive and thrilling journey through space.

About the Earthrise Theme

Earthrise refers to the sight of Earth appearing to rise above the edge of the Moon when viewed from space. This theme is unique to Japan among Space Mountain attractions at Disney parks around the world, inviting guests to rediscover the beauty of Earth as they journey through the vastness of space.

What Is Tomorrowland Plaza?

The new Tomorrowland Plaza

A brand-new Tomorrowland Plaza will also open around Space Mountain Earthrise. Designed as a space connecting Tomorrowland's past and future, the plaza will depict a future where humanity and nature coexist in harmony.

The plaza will feature art installations inspired by natural elements such as fire, water, earth, and wood, as well as the light of the sun and moon. At night, the entire plaza will be transformed by lighting and sound effects, creating a dreamlike atmosphere.

In addition, Element Express, a dining location serving light meals and drinks, will open alongside the plaza, giving guests a place to take a break while exploring the area.
