After arriving at the JR Maihama Station, you can choose to walk or take the Disney Resort Line within the Tokyo Disney Resort to Tokyo Disneyland.
The trains on the Disney Resort Line often feature different designs to coincide with seasonal events, including adorable Mickey-shaped windows and strap handles inside the train carriages, which make for great photo opportunities.
Additionally, there are photo spots set up within and outside the station, as well as souvenir medals available for sale at vending machines. You can check the current designs on the official website.
Pre-planning Reminders
The Tokyo Disney Resort is one of the most magical places in the world. With numerous attractions and spectacular shows, without prior planning, the excitement and joy can easily be overshadowed by waiting in queues. Here are some points to consider during the pre-planning stage:
1. Check the official website of Tokyo Disney Resort beforehand to confirm the day's performance schedules, maintenance schedules for attractions, new products of the month, special dishes of the month, etc.
2. Prioritize the attractions you want to experience.
3. Plan your visit for facilities or performances that require Disney Fastpass tickets or reservation tickets.
The official website also provides sample itineraries. For beginners who are unsure where to start, it's worth taking a look! You can click here to see various official sample itineraries.
Utilize the Official Website to Select Attractions
From Tokyo Disney Resort's official website
The Tokyo Disney Resort official attractions page here provides options to categorize various attractions based on different needs such as height restrictions, fear of darkness, sensitivity to loud music, fear of scary characters, and more.
Parents can make good use of this feature to select suitable attractions in advance.
Confirm the Location of the Baby Centers
Tokyo Disney Resort has two baby centers. One is located at the border between the World Bazaar and Tomorrowland, and the other one is inside Toontown.
Both centers are equipped with nursing rooms and several diaper-changing tables. They also provide microwave ovens and hot water at 70 degrees for preparing baby food and milk.
The overall design is infused with Disney elements and the spaces are spacious and bright. Many restrooms in the park have changing tables, available in both men’s and women’s restrooms.
Please note that the baby center in Toontown is open from one hour after the park's opening until one hour before the park closes.
Using the Early Evening Passport and Weeknight Passport
Although everyone wants to spend the whole day at Tokyo Disney Resort, you might have time restrictions or other plans. Below we introduce two types of tickets that offer more flexibility.
Late Entry Passport | Early Evening Passport | Weeknight Passport |
Adults (age 18 and up) | 6,500 - 7,400 yen | 4,500 - 5,400 yen |
Teenagers (age 12 - 17) | 5,300 - 6,200 yen | 4,500 - 5,400 yen |
Children (age 4 - 11) | 3,800 - 4,400 yen | 4,500 - 5,400 yen |
Entry Time | From 15:00 on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays | From 17:00 on Mondays to Fridays |
These two passports have shorter entry times, making it nearly impossible to purchase early entry tickets and have encounters with Disney characters.
However, they are particularly suitable for the following situations:
- If you want to focus on two or three attractions (with regular waiting times)
- If you want to watch nighttime shows and parades
- If you want to dine at restaurants within Tokyo Disney Resort.
Therefore, we particularly recommend these two passports for:
1. Families spanning three generations
2. Those who decided to visit the Tokyo Disney Resort spontaneously
3. Those specifically interested in nighttime shows
4. Individuals looking to simply enjoy the Disneyland atmosphere
Obtain Today's Park Information
When you enter the park, be sure to first obtain Today's Park Information at the World Bazaar.
Although you can check in advance online, Today's Park Information not only includes the schedule for shows and parades but also provides details on the month's limited edition items and special food items, allowing visitors to access all the latest information at once.
The cover design of the park guide also changes with the seasons, so be sure to hold onto it rather than discard it after a glance!
Make the Most of the Official Tokyo Disney Resort App
The official Tokyo Disney Resort app is available in English: Download page.
Users need to register for a Disney account in advance and enable location services (GPS) during use, but the overall operation isn't too challenging. The app includes the following features:
Before Entering the Park
Use the priority seating function (select Restaurant) to make restaurant reservations. Reservations can be made from 10:00 one month before the dining date to 20:59 the day before the dining date.
After successfully making a reservation, you can confirm the reservation records in "My Bookings".
After Entering the Park
1. Obtain the Disney Premier Access card.
2. Check the latest wait times for attractions at the parks and the sea
3. Understand the issuance status of the reservation wait card
4. Sign up for experiences and participate in performances
5. Locate and access information about surrounding facilities at any time
Disney Premier Access, Standby Pass, and Entry Request
The Disney FastPass has been replaced with the Disney Premier Access (available for a fee), the Standby Pass (free), and the Entry Request. Upon entering the park, visitors can acquire Disney Premier Access through the official Tokyo Disney Resort App and pay for it or join the standby queue according to the specified time slot on site.
Visitors can make reservations through the official app after entering the park. The cost for a single ride at an attraction ranges from 1,500 to 2,500 yen, with the same price for adults and children. Having a reserved time slot allows for more efficient planning of activities such as watching shows, parades, and meals.
Currently, each ticket can be used for one reservation only, and it is purchased on a per-person basis rather than as a group. Therefore, if your budget allows, this can be a time-saving option, although it's important to note that you'll need to make a reservation for each family member if you all wish to ride together.
Facilities That Can be Accessed Using Disney Premier Access
Facility | Price of Disney Premier Access (per person/one entry) |
Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast | 2,000 yen |
The Happy Ride with Baymax | 1,500 yen |
Splash Mountain | 1,500 yen |
Disney Harmony in Color | 2,500 yen |
Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights | 2,500 yen |
For details about the Disney Premier Access, please visit the official website.
Disney Premier Access Card Usage Rules
Each park ticket can be used to purchase one Disney Premier Access Card per person each time. If visitors wish to purchase a Disney Premier Access Card for other attractions, they can do so 60 minutes after purchasing the Disney Premier Access Card, or after the designated period for using the purchased card has started.
Visitors who wish to purchase a Disney Premier Access Card for the same attraction again can do so after they have used the previous Disney Premier Access Card, or after the designated period has passed.
Facilities Requiring a Standby Pass
Currently, none of the attractions at the Tokyo Disney Resort can be accessed using the Standby Pass. If you want to quickly experience popular attractions, you should purchase a Disney Premier Access Card.
The Standby Pass works in a way similar to obtaining a queue number through the app, and it is easy to use. Below is a list of facilities that currently require a Standby Pass until further notice.
Shops
Planet M, Toy Station (Disney Vehicle Factory purchases only), Grand Emporium, Adventureland Bazaar (for purchase of capsule toys only), Frontier Woodcraft, Treasure Comet (for purchase of capsule toys only), Kingdom Treasures, Gag Factory/Toontown Five and Dime, Disney & Co.
Restaurants
Camp Woodchuck Kitchen, Sweetheart Cafe, Refreshment Corner.
For restaurants, specific meals need to be purchased on certain dates to obtain the Standby Pass. Please see the official website for more details.
Facilities Requiring an Entry Request
Certain experiences require an Entry Request, which enables reservations for some experiences and shows. After entering the park, you can get an Entry Request through the official app (in English or Japanese).
Currently requiring an Entry Request are facilities such as Disney Character Greetings and the following shows: Jamboree Mickey! Let's Dance!, Mickey's Magical Music World, and Club Mouse Beat.
For more details, please refer to the official website.
Baby Strollers and Wheelchair Rentals
After entering the park, continue walking on the right-hand side until you find an area where visitors can rent strollers (1,000 yen). The strollers are decked out in a Mickey Mouse design that is so cute! Cast members will teach you how to use the strollers here. These baby carts are known for being light and easily collapsible.
Cast members will write down the name of the renter, which eliminates the worry of being unable to find your stroller in the park. Wheelchair rentals are also available.
Lockers for Storing Large Items
At Tokyo Disneyland's entrance on both the left and right sides, there are numerous coin lockers available, ranging from small lockers costing 300 yen to extra-large ones costing 700 yen.
However, due to the large number of visitors, if you are worried about not being able to find an available locker upon entering the park, you can also use the storage lockers located in four places outside the park.
For information about locker locations, please refer to the official website.
Other Useful Services
There is also a service called Rider Switch. If your child doesn't meet an attraction’s boarding restrictions and you have two or more companions (guardians) in your party, this service allows each person to alternate riding the attraction without having to wait in line twice.
If you’d like to utilize the Rider Switch service, please let the staff know before lining up for the attraction.
Popular New Attractions
In recent years, Tokyo Disneyland has opened new park areas and amusement facilities. One of them is the New Fantasyland area, opened in 2020.
Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast
In the New Fantasyland area, you'll find the Beast's castle and the village where Belle resides. Upon entering the park, you will first see Belle's father Maurice's house, but what fans are most excited about is the new attraction called Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast!
With many carefully recreated scenes from the animated movie, fans of "Beauty and the Beast" absolutely cannot miss this area!
The Happy Ride with Baymax
The Happy Ride with Baymax is a new attraction in Tomorrowland. Guests sit in amusement rides guided by Baymax, changing direction in unpredictable ways to the rhythm of the music.
Also in Tomorrowland is the newly opened BIG POP, a popcorn specialty shop themed around outer space. Here you can mix and match popcorn flavors, including the Strawberry Napoleon, which is exclusive to this store.
The ceiling of the shop has been designed as a fantastical starry sky with a gigantic popcorn representation of the Big Bang.
Visitors can witness the delightful popcorn-making process in the kitchen through large windows, an experience that offers visual and olfactory stimulation before enjoying the popcorn's deliciousness! If you're a fan of Disney's popcorn, you absolutely must visit BIG POP.
Seize the Last Chance to Ride Space Mountain!
Tokyo Disney Resort recently announced plans to refurbish the classic attraction Space Mountain, located in the Tomorrowland area. The refurbishment is expected to be completed in 2027.
Since the opening of Tokyo Disneyland in 1983, the high-speed and thrilling Space Mountain has been a favorite among visitors. Space Mountain will be closed in 2024 and rebuilt to incorporate future concepts that highlight the connection between the universe and Earth, as well as the harmony between humanity and nature. The surrounding area will also undergo renovation.
Therefore, make sure to seize the last chance to experience Space Mountain before it closes!
Spots to Take Shelter from Rain or Sunlight
If you’re a tourist, it's hard to predict in advance what the weather will be like on the date you've purchased your tickets. It might be useful to get an understanding of which spots you can take shelter against the rain or harsh sunshine. We’ll introduce several of these spots below.
World Bazaar
World Bazaar is a themed area lined with several shops and restaurants. A transparent roof hangs over the top of the building, which makes it possible to walk around on rainy days without an umbrella.
Numerous benches can be found in front of shops, so feel free to use them to take a break when you’re tired.
Toontown
In Toontown, you will feel as if you've stepped into the world of Mickey Mouse. Here, visitors can even spot the homes of beloved Disney characters.
Chip and Dale’s treehouse is our top attraction to visit in this area. A spiral staircase leads up to the second floor of the house, making it fun to walk up and down with your child. The fact that it’s not very crowded is another appealing factor. Because it's indoors, so you can also avoid the sunlight.
A Variety of Indoor Restaurants
Above: Hungry Bear Restaurant, Below: Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall
Whether they specifically sell set menus or host shows, there is a variety of restaurants available in the park. We recommend dining inside a spacious indoor restaurant with many seats. Additionally, these restaurants can be used to avoid the pouring rain or harsh sunlight.
Recommended restaurants and areas are as listed below:
Area | Restaurant Name |
Westernland | Camp Woodchuck Kitchen, Hungry Bear Restaurant |
Critter Country | Grandma Sara’s Kitchen |
Fantasyland | Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall |
Tomorrowland | Tomorrowland Terrace, Pan Galactic Pizza Port, Plazma Ray’s Diner |
5. Save Time with Tasty Snacks
If you're hoping to save some time or easily satisfy your stomach, then select a quick meal you can buy without going into a shop!
Popcorn
At Tokyo Disneyland, you can purchase salt, barbecue, and caramel flavored popcorn to name a few tasty flavors! Popcorn buckets are also known for their unique shape and design befitting to the character that adorns it. These adorable popcorn buckets will undoubtedly be a time saver, too.
Churros
Tokyo Disneyland’s churros have a crispy exterior and a spongy inside that is popular among people of all ages. What makes them fun and different from the churros sold elsewhere is its Mickey Mouse-shaped cross section. Eat and see if you’re able to get a clean cross section!
Smoked Turkey Leg
The smoked turkey leg is something you definitely cannot pass by if you’re a meat lover. One bite will have you savoring a juicy meat morsel.
Ice Pops
Popsicles are the ideal icy treats made for hot days! The yellow Mickey Mouse ice pop has a tropical fruit flavor while the pink Minnie Mouse ice pop is a peach berry flavor. Without question, this refreshing popsicle is perfect for the summer.
Pictures of Cinderella Castle Snapped at Different Angles!
When visiting Tokyo Disneyland, it's obligatory to take a picture of the Cinderella Castle! We’ll introduce our recommended spots when it comes to snapping a commemorative photo of the castle.
A. In Front of World Bazaar
Here, you can capture the Cinderella Castle and bronze statue of Mickey Mouse and Walt Disney in one frame.
B. Swiss Family Treehouse
Enter the Swiss Family Treehouse—an attraction you experience while walking—and you’ll be able to take a picture of the Cinderella Castle from afar surrounded by lush greenery.

D. Behind Cinderella Castle
The front and back side of the Cinderella Castle have different designs. In fact, the back is built with several windows, which gives the castle its powerful appearance.
E. Near Stitch Encounter
Near the attraction Stitch Encounter, you can capture the Cinderella Castle, abundant greenery, and a river-like area all together in one picture.
F. Both Sides of the Cinderella Castle
There are small ponds located on both sides of the Cinderella Castle. Further adding to its fairytale-like appearance, willow trees have also been planted on one side of the castle.

I used to live in Japan and managed to conquer 78 out of the 100 famous castles and 12 existing castle towers in 8 years. As a history enthusiast, I also have a passion for baseball and Japanese dramas, which have driven me to visit all 47 prefectures. I hope to convey not only the scenery of Japan but also more of its culture and way of life.
