Tokyo Disney Resort is located in Chiba Prefecture. Even if you spend an entire day here, you won't run out of fun things to see and do at this gigantic theme park.

Today we'll introduce how to get to Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, from major stations in Tokyo, like Tokyo, Shinagawa, and Shinjuku stations, and from other locations as well.
Whether it's by train, bus, or car, find the method of getting there that suits you best!

1. Tokyo Disney Resort - Train To JR Maihama Station

The most standard method of getting to Tokyo Disney Resort is by taking the train. The closest station to Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, is JR Maihama Station.

Maihama Station, situated in Tokyo's neighboring area of Chiba Prefecture, is located some distance from Tokyo's major stations, so allow yourself plenty of time when you plan on going there.
Also please be aware that in the evening on your return trip back, trains departing from Maihama Station can be extremely crowded.

From Tokyo Station

When going to Maihama Station from Tokyo Station, it's not necessary to make any train transfers. However when going to Maihama Station from other stations in the Tokyo area, Tokyo Station will often be where you transfer trains.

From Shinagawa Station

Route: Shinagawa Station to Tokyo Station, transfer lines to get to Maihama Station

Train Line: Board the JR Yamanote Line (headed for Tokyo) and get off at Tokyo Station (about 11 minutes). Then transfer to the JR Keiyo Line or JR Musashino Line (about 15 minutes)

From Shinjuku Station

Route: Shinjuku Station to Tokyo Station, transfer lines to get to Maihama Station

Train Line: At JR Shinjuku Station board the JR Chuo Rapid Line and get off at Tokyo Station (14 minutes). Then transfer to the JR Keiyo Line or JR Musashino Line (about 15 minutes)

From Narita Airport

Route: Narita Airport Station to Tokyo Station, transfer lines to get to Maihama Station

Train Line: Board the JR Narita Express (60 minutes), then after getting off at Tokyo Station, transfer to the Keiyo Line or the Musashino Line (about 15 minutes)

From Haneda Airport

Route: Haneda Airport to Hamamatsucho Station (transfer lines) to Tokyo Station (transfer lines), Maihama Station
Number of Transfers: 2
Train Line: Board the Tokyo Monorail and get off at Hamamatsucho Station (about 25 minutes). Next, transfer to the JR Yamamote Line headed for Tokyo and get off at Tokyo Station (about 6 minutes). Finally transfer to the JR Keiyo Line or the JR Musashino Line (about 15 minutes).

From Osaka and Kyoto

Route: Shin-Osaka Station or Kyoto Station to Tokyo Station, transfer lines to get to Maihama Station
Number of Transfers: 1
Train Line: Shin Osaka Station to Tokyo Station takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes, Kyoto Station to Tokyo Station takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes. Tokyo Station to Maihama Station via the Keiyo Line or Musashino Line takes about 15 minutes.
Total Required Time: About 3 hours
Fare: Shin Osaka Station to Maihama Station is 14,660 yen (reserved seating aboard the Nozomi Shinkansen), Kyoto Station to Maihama Station is 14,120 yen (reserved seating aboard the Nozomi Shinkansen).

From Maihama Station to Tokyo Disneyland it's only five minutes on foot. To get to Tokyo DisneySea, hop aboard the Disney Resort Line and get off at Tokyo DisneySea Station.
The fare is 260 yen for adults and 130 yen for children.

2. Going to Tokyo Disney Resort via Bus

You're completely tired and worn out after a long, adventure-filled day. But the return train is...totally jam-packed! Not a pleasant experience. But if you take the bus, both on the way there and on the way back, you'll probably be able to get a seat.

However, as a word of caution please take note of the following conditions. The bus has a seating capacity, so when the bus is full you won't be able to board the bus. In some instances you might be able to reserve a seat, but in most cases buses operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
Also in the event of a traffic jam, it's likely that the arrival time of the bus will be delayed.

From Shinjuku Station

Bus Stop: Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal Google Map

Required Time: To Disneyland it takes about 50 minutes, and to DisneySea it takes about 40 minutes.

Fare (one way): Adults - 1,000 yen, Children - 500 yen

Return Trip: From Tokyo Disneyland board a bus at stop number 2, from Tokyo DisneySea board a bus at stop number 3.

Reservations: Not required. Purchase tickets either at a ticket dispensing machine or at the ticket window at the bus terminal.

From Tokyo Station

Required Time: To Tokyo Disneyland, it takes about 35 minutes, to Tokyo DisneySea it takes about 25 minutes.

From Akihabara Station

Reservations: For buses going from Ikebukuro Station to Disney Resort only, reservations are possible. In the event that seats are available, you can board the bus without a reservation.

From Narita Airport

Bus Stop: Passenger Terminal 1-board at bus stop number 5, at Passenger Terminal 2-board at bus stop number 12, at Passenger Terminal 3-board at bus stop number 6

Required Time: About 65 minutes

Fare (one-way): Adults -1,800 yen, Children - 900 yen

Return Trip: From Tokyo Disneyland board a bus at stop number 8, from Tokyo DisneySea board a bus at stop number 4. To get to Passenger Terminal 2 it takes about 65 minutes. 5 minutes later it arrives at Passenger Terminal 1.

Reservations: Not required (first-come, first-served basis)

From Haneda Airport

Bus Stop: International Terminal-bus stop number 5, Passenger Terminal 1-bus stop number 6, Passenger Terminal 2-bus stop number 6.

Required Time: About 45 minutes

Fare (one-way): Adults - 830 yen, Children - 420 yen

Return Trip: From Tokyo Disneyland use bus stop number 8, from Tokyo DisneySea use bus stop number 4. It takes about 50 minutes to get to Terminal 2, about 55 minutes to get to Terminal 1, and 60 minutes to get to the International Terminal.

For buses going from Tokyo Disney Resort to Haneda Airport, seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

From Areas Outside of Tokyo

Buses also depart from areas other than the Tokyo area. Reservations will be required, so please contact the respective bus company to reserve a seat.

For reference, it takes about nine hours by bus from Osaka to the Disney Resort area. Bus fare ranges from 3,000 to 10,000 yen, depending on the season and the bus company.

Going by Car (Private or Rental Car)

In the event you decide to go by car (private or rental), you can use the Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway Bayshore Route.

From the Urayasu exit, it's only about ten minutes to the Tokyo Disneyland and the Tokyo DisneySea parking areas. For standard passenger cars, the parking fee is 2,500 yen on weekdays, and 3,000 yen on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

About one hour before the parking lots close, many cars start to leave so getting out from there can take some time. Please exercise caution.
