The name "Atarayo -Izu" comes from the word " Kasakuya " in the Manyoshu, an ancient collection of Japanese poetry. Among the Manyoshu ( the oldest extant collection of Japanese poems compiled from the latter half of the 7th century to the latter half of the 8th century ), the 1693rd poem in the 9th volume says, There is a poem called General .
