The Michinoku Coastal Trail is one of the initiatives of the ``Green Recovery Project,'' which was created by the Ministry of the Environment to contribute to recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake and is centered around the creation of ``Sanriku Fukko National Park.''

With the cooperation of the Ministry of the Environment, local governments and residents along the trail, the National Trail opened in 2019 as a national trail with a total length of over 1,000 km, connecting coastal areas from Kabushima, Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture to Matsukawaura, Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture.

The characteristics of the Michinoku Coastal Trail are the expansive ocean views of the Rias coastline and the close proximity of the Morisato River to the ocean. The reason why the Michinoku Coastal Trail fascinates people is because you can feel the way people live in harmony with nature and the changing seasons.

``Kamiwarisaki Campsite'' is a campsite with a view of the ocean, where many campers gather from both within and outside the prefecture.

Nearby is Kamiwarizaki, a scenic spot where waves rise between the rocks.
