What is Yame Central Tea Plantation?

Yame Central Tea Plantation, a representative tea-producing region of Yame, is a tea field of about 70 hectares spread across gentle hills, with green as far as you can see. You may be able to see tea picking during the first tea season from mid-April to May, and the second tea season from June to July. Tea plants are evergreen and have leaves all year round, but even though they are green, they show different shades of green depending on the season. On a clear day, you can see as far as the Ariake Sea and the Shimabara Peninsula.

How to get to Yame Central Tea Plantation from the center of Yame City.

1. Start at the Yame Tourist Information Center

At Yame Tourist Information Center, we provide various tourist information to everyone. Get the latest information and head to Yame Central Tea Plantation. Yame Traditional Crafts Center and Yame Tourist Products Center named Tokimeki are adjacent and have toilets. Once you're ready, it's time to head out! It takes about 20 minutes by car and about 40 minutes by a shared bicycle.

Turn left at the large parking lot where Yame Traditional Crafts Center is located, and head east on Barbizon Road. Go under the overpass of National Route 3.

2. Turn left at the "Kitouin" traffic light

After driving along Barbizon Road for about 5 minutes, you will see a green guideboard. Turn left at the Kitouin traffic light and head onto Prefectural Route 82.

3. Turn right at the intersection past Yame Miryokuen Tea Company.

You will see a sign for Yame Miryokuen Tea's "Yame Green Tea Cafe Bunbuku". Follow the green sign for "Yame Central Tea Plantation" and turn right.

At Yame Tea Cafe Bunbuku, you can enjoy lunch such as Chasoba (Green Tea Soba) and sweets made from Yame green tea and Yame green tea.

4. At the fork in the road past Yahime Hospital, turn right

From here on, follow the green signboards. The road continues to climb gently. Soon you will start to see the tea fields.

5. Arrive at the Yame Central Tea Plantation Observation Point

Once you reach out to the top of the road through the vast tea fields, you will come to a parking lot at the observation point.  There is a parking space for a bus a little below the parking lot. In spring, the contrast between the cherry blossoms and the tea fields is beautiful. There is also a cafe called " Green Monster " at the observation point. Why not enjoy the splendid view while sipping some delicious tea?

Yame Tourist Information Center, located on the north side of Traditional Crafts Museum's large parking lot, provides various tourist information to visitors. Fukuoka Airport → Kyushu Expressway → About 10minutes from Yame IC Exit

How to get to Yame City from Fukuoka City Center (train/bus)

[From Hakata] JR Hakata Station → (about 50 minutes by JR) → JR Hainuzuka Station → (about 20 minutes by Horikawa bus) → Get off at Fukushima bus stop

[From Tenjin] Nishitetsu Fukuoka Tenjin Station→ (about 40 minutes by Nishitetsu train) → Nishitetsu Kurume Station → (about 40 minutes by Nishitetsu bus) → Get off at Fukushima bus stop
