Toyota Gojōin Project ④
A French Toyota City employee will introduce Toyota City's castles and the tourist spots around them, along with the Toyota Gojōin Project.
Hi there!
This is Angie from Toyota City Hall, and I’d like to introduce you to Busetsu
Castle and Asuke Castle, along with some recommended spots in their
surroundings, that I explored as part of the Toyota Gojōin Project.
Let’s start
with Busetsu Castle, which was built during the Sengoku Period (1467-1568) with
ties to Takeda Katsuyori. The mountainous terrain and the moat remain today. Despite
it being a mountain castle, climbing it isn’t too hard, so it might be nice for
a leisurely walk.
Adjacent to it is Donguri no Sato Inabu Roadside Station,
where you can enjoy the natural hot spring of Donguri no Yu, or purchase fresh
agricultural produce at Donguri Yokochō. You can
buy Busetsu Castle’s Gojōin at Donguri no Sato Inabu’s Tourist Information
Center or Donguri Workshop.
For lunch,
how about trying out Gra Tir Inabu? On top of the healthy medicinal soup set
and the delicious Tantanmen noodles set, this restaurant also boasts a unique
hot footbath. On cold days like these, there’s nothing better than relaxing
your feet in a hot bath while eating a delicious lunch!
Liquor
enthusiasts should definitely visit the Hōraisen Ginjō Workshop. The second
floor provides explanations about sake brewing, and if you look through the
windows in the corridor, you’ll be able to see some sake manufacturing
equipment. You can taste and buy some famous local sake at the shop on the
first floor.
Last
but not least is Asuke Castle, standing on top of Mount Mayumi. It is believed
to have been built by the Suzuki Clan sometime after the 15th
century, but it was abandoned in 1590. It’s the first mountain castle in Japan
to have been reconstructed, and by visiting it, you can really get a glimpse of
what mountain castles were like back then. From its 301 meters of altitude, you
can view the stunning scenery of Asuke. You can buy Asuke Castle’s Gojōin at
the reception at the entrance.
