Kawaguchiko Herb Festival 2025

Oishi Park

The Kawaguchiko Herb Festival is a symbolic event for "creating a fragrant village" and is celebrating its 33rd anniversary this year since its first event in 1992. It is a major event in Fujikawaguchiko Town that attracts many tourists from both Japan and overseas every year.

Yagizaki Park

The event will be held in two locations: Oishi Park on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchiko and Yagisaki Park on the south shore.

In addition, events such as the "Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko Opening Festival Fireworks Display" will be held in conjunction with the Herb Festival.

Lake Kawaguchiko-Oishi Park

Oishi Park is a park located on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi, and is a scenic spot where you can enjoy seasonal flowers with Mt. Fuji and the lake in the background. In early summer, when lavender blooms, the "Kawaguchiko Herb Festival" is held, attracting many tourists.

Mount Fuji and Kawaguchiko Opening Festival Fireworks

This fireworks display marks the start of the summer mountain climbing season at Mount Fuji and is also famous as one of the earliest fireworks displays in Yamanashi Prefecture.

Recommended cycling route to enjoy the Kawaguchiko Herb Festival

You can get to Oishi Park, where the Herb Festival is held, by taking the Lake Kawaguchiko Tour Bus, and to Yagizaki Park by taking the Lake Saiko Tour Bus. However, to avoid the crowded buses and roads, we also recommend Bicycle rental and touring the Herb Festival site.

Rent an electric bicycle from Fujikanko Travel

Yagisaki Park

Yagisaki Park, located on the south shore of Lake Kawaguchiko, is a famous spot for lavender. There are well-maintained walking paths, so you can take your time appreciating the lavender. You can also see a lot of hydrangeas at the same time at the same time.

From Lake Kawaguchiko Bridge, selected as one of the 100 best roads in Japan, you can see the majestic Mount Fuji all the way to Susono.

Kawaguchiko Ohashi Bridge

Kawaguchiko Ohashi Bridge is Japan's first bridge built in a special national park area. In 1987, along with the Fuji Subaru Line, it was selected as one of Japan's top 100 roads, and a stone monument has been erected there. The stone monument is located at the south entrance of the bridge, on the Mt. Fuji side. On a clear day, you can see the magnificent Mt. Fuji, making it a great photo spot, but on rainy or cloudy days, you often can't see it at all. There is no parking space, so we recommend going by bicycle or on foot.

Lake Kawaguchiko North Shore Walking Trail

This promenade runs along the shores of Lake Kawaguchi, and is a scenic spot where you can see the bridge, the Lake Kawaguchiko, and Mount Fuji right in front of you. In spring, it is the venue for the Fujikawaguchiko Cherry Sakura. In autumn, the Fujikawaguchiko Autumn Leaves Festival is held just a five-minute walk away.

Oishi Park

Oishi Park is a place where not only lavender but also various other flowers bloom in every season. The highlight is the spectacular sight of the crimson kochia flowers against Mount Fuji, which are at their best from mid- to late October.

Kawaguchi Asama-jinja Shrine

This shrine was built over 1100 years ago in order to calm the eruptions of Mount Fuji. It is home to the 1200-year-old "Seven Cedars," a registered natural monument of Yamanashi Prefecture, and the "Mount Fuji Worship Site (Torii Gate in the Sky)," a 20-minute walk away.

The remote worship site of Kawaguchi Asama Shrine, "Torii in the Sky," is a scenic spot in Fujikawaguchiko Town, Yamanashi Prefecture, where you can enjoy a spectacular view of Mt. Fuji through the torii. The mystical scenery unfolds especially at sunrise, making it a popular power spot.

A cafe located about 400m from the Torii Gate in the Sky. It is a cafe and terrace with a great sense of openness, where you can see Mount Fuji directly in front of you and Lake Kawaguchiko below. Take a relaxing break while looking at the magnificent view.

After the herb festival stroll, relax in the hot springs at "Yulari Hot Springs with a Fuji Chobo no Yu Yurari Onsen"

This day-trip hot spring facility has 16 types of baths, including two types of open-air baths with outstanding views of Mount Fuji, as well as carbonated springs and cave baths. In addition to the baths, there is also a body refreshment area to soothe the fatigue of your travels, and a restaurant where meals are delivered by a mini steam locomotive train.
