The "Kanazawa Hyakumangoku Festival" is the largest event in Kanazawa, held to commemorate the great achievement of Lord Maeda Toshiie, the founder of the Kaga domain, who entered Kanazawa Castle on June 14, 1583, and built the foundations of Kanazawa. The 73rd "Kanazawa Hyakumangoku Festival" will be held from May 31 (Fri) to June 2 (Sun). The highlight of the festival is the spectacular "Hyakumangoku Parade", which starts in front of the Tsuzumimon Gate at Kanazawa Station and marches to Kanazawa Castle Park. The parade is livened up by a musical parade featuring brass bands, Miss Hyakumangoku, lion dances, and a Kaga Tobi parade. The Tamahime Okoshi Parade, Omatsu no Kata Parade, and Maeda Toshiie's Castle Parade are all crowded with people hoping to catch a glimpse of them. This year, Nakamura Toru will play the role of Maeda Toshiie, and Natsuna will play the role of Omatsu no Kata.

Other traditional events unique to Kanazawa will be held over the course of three lively days, including the "Hyakumangoku Takigi Noh" where you can enjoy the fantastical and profound world of Kaga Hosho, and the "Hyakumangoku Tea Ceremony" where you can casually experience the historic tea culture. The "Hyakumangoku Odori Nagashi" where you can enjoy dancing in Kanazawa at night has also been revived, allowing walk-in participation. It is planned to be held on the same scale as before the COVID-19 pandemic. This is an event that is recommended for both locals and tourists, where you can enjoy Kanazawa's past and present all at once.
