🚩Tour Itinerary

2:10pm Meet at Ohanabatake Station on the Chichibu Railway

On the day of the tour, a guide will be waiting for you to the right of the ticket gate at Ohanabatake Station.
First, when you arrive, please check in at reception. We will confirm the name and number of people on your application.

2:33pm Depart from Ohanabatake Station (Board the "SL Paleo Express")

Chichibu Railway is famous for the SL Paleo Express, which is known as the closest steam locomotive to central Tokyo. You can ride a retro steam locomotive tourist train that gives you a taste of Japanese history and head to Nagatoro Station.

You can feel the rocking, whistle, and weight of the steam locomotive up close. Enjoy the steam locomotive journey to Nagatoro Station while admiring the autumn scenery from the window.

3:07pm Arrived at Nagatoro Station

When you arrive at Nagatoro Station, be sure to see the SL Paleo Express off inside the station.
This is the perfect time to get up close and personal with the steam locomotive and take a photo as a memento of your trip.

Nagatoro Station is a historic station building established in 1911. You can feel the retro Japanese atmosphere here.
Additionally, the retro red postbox next to Nagatoro Station is a popular photo spot.

Now, we will walk to the "Rhine Cruise The Nagatoro River", which is a one-minute walk from Nagatoro Station.

3:20 pm: Board on the Rhine Cruise The Nagatoro River

Next, we will experience the "Rhine Cruise The Nagatoro River" a river boat ride that is the highlight of sightseeing in Nagatoro.

You will travel by bus to the boarding point.
From the boarding point, you will board a Japanese-style boat and travel about 3 kilometers down the river called "Arakawa" that flows all the way to Tokyo.

The boat slowly sails along the river while you gaze upon the colorful autumn leaves.

4:15 PM Arrive at Hodosan Ropeway Base Station (Board the Sunset Viewing Service)

After enjoying the autumn leaves in the valley, we will show you the view from Mt. Nagatoro. There is a mountain called "Hodosan" in Nagatoro, and there is a ropeway there. The Hodosan Ropeway operates only in autumn so that you can enjoy the sunset.

The ride takes about 5 minutes to the top of Mt. Hodo. Enjoy the view of the Chichibu mountain range from the train window. Once you reach the top of Mt. Hodo, you'll be captivated by the mountains of the Chichibu region and the orange sunset. The atmosphere is different from the river, and you can enjoy the clear mountain air and the autumn view illuminated by the setting sun.

Please note that the weather in November on Mt. Hodo is quite cold. We recommend that tour participants bring thick outerwear.

5:00 PM Trick Art experience at the Nagatoro Trick Art Yurin Club

After descending from Mt. Hodo, we will guide you to the "Nagatoro Trick Art Yurin Club."
At the Nagatoro Trick Art Yurin Club, you can enjoy using all five senses by touching the artworks and taking photos together. Why not work together with your family and friends to try your hand at taking unique photos?

Outside the Nagatoro Trick Art Yurin Club and in the adjacent Japanese garden, illuminations will be held to coincide with the autumn foliage season. Take a stroll through the beautiful Japanese garden with its autumn leaves.

Photographed in late September 2024. Every November, the maples in the garden turn red.

5:50 PM Enjoy the light-up at Hodosan Shrine

We will walk from "Nagatoro Trick Art Yurin Club" to "Hodosan Shrine".
Hodosan Shrine is decorated with autumn leaves, so we recommend taking a stroll around the shrine grounds.
You can learn about the history of the shrine while enjoying the sacred atmosphere and beautiful autumn leaves.

6:40pm Stroll around Tsuki no Ishi Momiji Park

After strolling around Hodosan Shrine, we will travel by bus to Tsukiishi Momiji Park, a popular spot to see autumn leaves in Nagatoro.
At night in November, the autumn leaves of the maple trees are lit up, creating a fantastical atmosphere for you to enjoy a stroll through the park.

Don't miss the monument that gave the park its name. Tsuki no Ishi Momiji Park has dirt ground, so it can get muddy when it rains. There are also areas with exposed rocks, so it's best to wear sneakers or other comfortable shoes when strolling around.

In addition to Tsuki no Ishi Momiji Park, the Saitama Prefectural Museum of Natural History is also a popular spot for viewing autumn leaves. This facility is located across the street from Tsuki no Ishi Momiji Park.
Saitama Prefectural Museum of Natural History "Kaede no Mori" will be lit up for a limited time only in autumn. Please enjoy the fantastic illumination of autumn leaves at both locations.
