One place you cannot miss on an art tour of Kanazawa is the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa.

The 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa is characterized by its open, glass-walled building, surrounded by greenery.
It is divided into an Exhibition Zone that requires admission and a Public Zone that is open to the public. Therefore, you can leisurely drop in to enjoy a stroll or appreciate the artwork. (*If you are planning to enter a paid area, we recommend that you allow yourself plenty of time!)
The Swimming Pool: Immerse yourself in the film
The artwork symbolic of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, is "The Swimming Pool" by the world-renowned artist Leandro Erlich (Exhibition Zone).
At first glance, this piece looks like a real swimming pool, but it has a unique mechanism.
If you enter the space beneath the surface of the pool and look down from above, it appears as if you are underwater. Then if you descend underground, you will appear as if you are at the bottom of the pool. This masterpiece allows you to fully enjoy visual wonders.
If you want to go underground without waiting, we recommend making a reservation on the day of your visit.

There's plenty to see in the Public Zone too!
There are various artworks in the Public Zone. On the rooftop outside the building, Jan FABRE's "The Man Who Measures the Clouds" is on display. Right next to it is Patrick BLANC's "Green Bridge." This work, which spans a glass corridor, allows visitors to enjoy various plants depending on the season.

This garden, which dates back 350 years ago and has ties to the Maeda family, was built as an outer garden for Kanazawa Castle and boasts an area of approximately two Tokyo Domes.

Enjoy Tea Time at Nodaya Chaten

Kanazawa has had a strong tea culture since the Edo period. Why not stop by a tea shop for a cup of tea during your walk around the city?

Nodaya Chaten is a long-established tea shop where you can enjoy "Bocha," a type of tea unique to Kanazawa.
Bocha is made from the stems of tea leaves. It is said to have been invented by the Kanazawa tea merchant Hayashiya Shinbei when the price of tea soared during the Meiji period.
It has a sweet, refreshing taste and low caffeine content. It was also apparently a favorite drink of Emperor Showa.

At Nodaya Chaten, you can sample tea, learn how to brew delicious tea and enjoy sweets made with matcha. It's also nice to take home the tea you purchased here and enjoy the afterglow of your trip at home!

Myoryuji Temple once served to protect Kanazawa Castle from enemy incursions. Although it appears to be a two-story building from the outside, it is seven stories tall, with 23 rooms and 29 staircases.
It is possible to tour the maze-like interior by booking a guided tour (Japanese only, children not allowed inside ).
