What is Setouchi Retreat Seto Inland Sea?

Seto Inland Sea Retreat Aonagi is a small luxury hotel with 7 rooms located in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, supervised by architect Tadao Ando. It was renovated from a building that was originally used as an art museum and opened in 2015. The hotel offers a minimalist yet sophisticated stay in a space where the nature and art of Seto Inland Sea blend together. Artworks are displayed throughout the hotel, and the hotel is also equipped with a dining area that serves kaiseki cuisine made with plenty of locally produced ingredients, indoor and outdoor pools, and a full-fledged spa.

We have prepared a luxurious nine-course meal that incorporates the changing seasons and the bounty of Seto Inland Sea's nature. This limited-time special course includes sauteed spiny lobster and tiger pufferfish from Seto Inland Sea as the main course, as well as local cuisine centered around local ingredients such as Ehime Prefecture beef and sea bream rice.

Enjoy a heartwarming moment as you sample the artisanal craftsmanship of each dish, carefully prepared using seasonal ingredients, paired with dishes unique to the Seto Inland Sea, carefully selected by a sommelier.

Ehime Prefecture, an unknown sake region, is home to 35 sake breweries, most of which are small, family-run businesses. The tradition of sake brewing, which began in the late Sengoku period, has been passed down through many families, and as the times have changed, new sakes have been created that will be passed down to the next generation. Please enjoy the pairing of this special dish, which is centered around Ehime's distinctive sake, carefully selected to go with it, and wines from around the world.
