On Mt. Yoshino, around 30,000 cherry blossoms are densely spread across four areas–Shimosenbon, Nakasenbon, Kamisenbon, and Okusenbon–each of which blooms at different times.
The cherry blossoms bloom from early to late April, starting in Shimosenbon, the lowest-elevation area, and gradually continuing in a relay through Nakasenbon, Kamisenbon, and finally Okusenbon. One of the charms of Mt. Yoshino is the opportunity to enjoy beautiful cherry blossoms over an extended period of time.

Shimosenbon, located near the entrance of Mt. Yoshino, is the first area you’ll want to visit as it is a famous cherry blossom spot.
There are many scenic spots, with the cherry blossoms on Nanamagari Slope, as seen from the Onodachi Observation Deck near the Shimosenbon parking area, being especially breathtaking.
The landscape, with cherry blossoms lining the winding slope, is definitely worth seeing. Hitome Senbon, a sea of cherry blossoms visible from the Shimosenbon Observatory, is another spot where you can fully appreciate the breathtaking beauty of the cherry blossoms.
Additionally, Kinpusenji Temple, a World Heritage site, is nearby and can be reached within a 15-minute walk from the parking lots at either spot.

Nakasenbon, located halfway up Mt. Yoshino, is a captivating area that blends history with picturesque scenery.
This area is home to many historical spots, such as Yoshimizu Shrine, a World Heritage site famous for being the location where Toyotomi Hideyoshi hosted his grand hanami (flower viewing) party. There's also Katte Shrine, known for its connection to the Legend of Yoshitsune, a famous samurai from the Kamakura period.
Among them, Hitome Senbon, visible below Yoshimizu Shrine, is a scenic spot offering an expansive, stunning landscape.

Kamisenbon is located at an elevation of 600 meters on Mt. Yoshino and is popular as a gorgeous spot offering a view of the entire mountain.
The view from Hanayagura Observatory is especially wonderful, offering the perfect vantage point for an unobstructed view of Mt. Yoshino. In spring, the entire mountain is blanketed in cherry blossoms, and their magnificence is sure to captivate you.
Renowned cherry blossom varieties are scattered throughout Kamisenbon, including Kumoino Sakura, Tenninzakura, and Yumemizakura. Each variety boasts its own distinct beauty.
This area is perfect for enjoying the cherry blossoms while hiking and is about an hour’s walk from the Shimosenbon parking area, the entrance to Mt. Yoshino. Be sure to fully take in the fresh mountain air alongside the stunning cherry blossoms.
The nearest station to Mt. Yoshino is Kintetsu Yoshino Station, about a 20-minute walk from Shimosenbon. However, due to the steep inclines and continuous steps, those who are not confident in their stamina should consider alternative transportation options.
Senbonguchi Station, located just in front of Kintetsu Yoshino Station, is where you can comfortably take the Mt. Yoshino Ropeway to Shimosenbon. However, since the schedule may vary depending on the season, be sure to check the operation status on the Yoshino-Omine Cable Ropeway Bus website (Japanese) before your visit.
During the cherry blossom season, a temporary bus service operated by Nara Kotsu Bus Lines runs from Kintetsu Yoshino Station to the Nakasenbon Bus Terminal (Chikurin-in). Additionally, you can take the Yamauchi Loop Bus from Chikurin-in to Okusenbon.
If you're visiting by car, you can use the Shimosenbon Parking Area near the entrance to Mt. Yoshino. During the cherry blossom season, parking is paid and may be full or subject to entry restrictions.
