Exhibiting works inspired by the streets of Kyoto

This exhibition features works by Mika Ninagawa, who also served as Kyoto International Tourism Ambassador, and the creative team EiM. EiM is a team of specialists in various fields, including Mika Ninagawa and data scientist Hiroaki Miyata.

In creating the work, Ninagawa and EiM visited Kyoto many times. "When I was walking around Kyoto, I felt like there was a hole that connected to another world. I was inspired by the streets of Kyoto and created this work," Ninagawa said at a press conference before the opening. What kind of world did she feel?

The venue is made up of 10 works, including video installations and three-dimensional exhibits, created specifically for this exhibition. The moment you step inside, you will feel like you are immersed in the work, and a "picture scroll experience" begins, in which you feel as if you are the protagonist traveling through another world .

Flowers of the Beyond

A space lined with over 4,000 crimson spider lilies. It's beautiful yet somehow strange, making you feel as if you've wandered into another world.

《Whispers of Light, Dreams of Color》

A fantastical space where about 1,500 crystal garlands sparkle in the light. If you look closely, you'll see that the garlands are made up of a variety of motifs, including butterflies, stars, and hearts. It's fun to try to find what's inside.

《Silence Between Glimmers》

Six large glass panels, each about the height of a person, project images of flower fields, butterflies, wisteria, cherry blossoms, undersea scenes, and more, all interwoven with light and shadow. In addition, a pair of aurora filters are placed on top, so the view changes every time you move.

The works in this exhibition were created entirely from real-world photographs and footage, without the use of any CG. The themes are "light coloring," which expresses the light and colors found in everyday life, and "shadow coloring," which expresses shadow and color.
