What is OCAT, the bus terminal directly connected to JR Namba Station?

Directly connected to JR Namba Station, OCAT (Osaka City Air Terminal) is the largest bus terminal in western Japan and also houses offices, restaurants, and shopping facilities.

The second floor bus terminal serves limousine buses to Kansai International Airport and Itami Airport, as well as intercity express buses from Sendai in the north to Kumamoto in the south.

The rooftop garden is home to approximately 10,000 trees and perennial herbs such as lavender and rosemary, and serves as a place of relaxation for residents as an "urban oasis."

OCAT is also a frequent venue for music performances, and the outdoor Ponte Plaza is a place where Osaka's young street dance community can practice and interact.

Osaka City Air Terminal (OCAT) is a multi-functional commercial complex located in Minatomachi, Naniwa Ward, Osaka City. It houses the South Osaka City Bus Terminal and a bus terminal for Kansai International Airport, and is directly connected to JR Namba Station. The six-story commercial floor also houses shops, restaurants, and an information center. OCAT is also a frequent venue for music performances, and the outdoor Ponte Square is a place for Osaka's young street dance community to practice and interact.

There are two routes to the bus terminal on the second floor: escalators and elevators.

First, we will explain how to get to the ticket counter if you arrive at the bus terminal on the second floor by escalator.

Once you reach the top of the escalator, you will see the Airport Limousine Bus ticket machine [C] right in front of you.

After getting off the escalator, turn right and go straight ahead, and you will see the bus ticket booths in the following order: [B] Ticket Booth [A] Ticket Booth.

Next, we will explain the route to the ticket office if you arrive at the bus terminal by elevator.

[C] How to purchase a ticket from the airport limousine bus ticket vending machine (Kansai International Airport and Itami Airport)

On the right there is a ticket machine for the limousine bus to Kansai International Airport, and on the left there is a ticket machine for the limousine bus to Itami Airport.

First, we will explain how to use the ticket machine for the limousine bus to Kansai International Airport.

The fare for both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 is a flat one-way fare of 1,300 yen for adults and 650 yen for children. There is a round-trip discount of 2,300 yen for adults only, which is a great deal. However, ticket vending machines only accept cash, so if you want to purchase with a credit card, please use the [B] ticket sales counter. Also, some buses may accept transportation IC cards. Transportation IC cards cannot be charged on the bus, so you must check the balance before boarding.

As a general rule, buses depart from platform 9, and all seats are unreserved, so please be aware that you may not be able to board once the bus is full. Also, Terminal 2 is for passengers flying with Peach Aviation, Jeju Air, and Spring Airlines, while Terminal 1 is for passengers flying with other airlines. At Kansai International Airport, buses arrive at the bus stops in the order of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Before boarding, please check the website of the airline departing from or arriving at each terminal to find out the terminal location of your flight, so you can board with peace of mind.

The ticket vending machines are available in not only Japanese, but also English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean, so please select the language you need.

Next, we will explain how to use the ticket machine for the limousine bus to Itami Airport.

The one-way fare is a flat rate of 730 yen for adults and 370 yen for children at both the North and South Terminals. However, although tickets can only be purchased in cash at the ticket machines, transportation IC cards can be used on the bus. However, transportation IC cards cannot be recharged on the bus, so you must check the balance before boarding. Also, credit cards are not accepted at all, so please be sure to have cash or a transportation IC card ready.

Please note that buses generally depart from platform 10 and all seats are unreserved, so you may not be able to board once the bus is full. Furthermore, buses using Japan Airlines, Japan Air Commuter, and Amakusa Airlines will arrive at the North Terminal, while those using All Nippon Airways and IBEX Airlines will arrive at the South Terminal, followed by the North Terminal. Before boarding, please check the website of the airline that departs from or arrives at each terminal to confirm the terminal location of your flight.

[A] How to purchase tickets at ticket offices (JR Bus, Kintetsu Bus, Nankai Bus)

The bus companies that handle this service are mainly West Japan JR Bus, Kintetsu Bus, and Nankai Bus. When purchasing tickets, West Japan JR Bus accepts not only cash, but also credit cards, some electronic money, and transportation IC cards. Kintetsu Bus and Nankai Bus only accept cash. Furthermore, each company not only sells same-day tickets, but also sells tickets up to one month in advance and issues tickets reserved through each company's call center. Furthermore, simple translation machines are installed at the counters to make the service easier for foreigners to understand.

West Japan JR Bus operates buses from OCAT to Shikoku, Nijigen no Mori, Sumoto, Shirahama, and other destinations, and sells tickets for these buses. Bus stop 5 serves Tokushima, Nijigen no Mori, and Sumoto, bus stop 6 serves Takamatsu and Kochi, and bus stop 8 serves Shirahama. Bus stop 4 serves Sendai, Nesta Resort Kobe, and Hida Takayama; bus stop 5 serves Kanazawa, Tokyo, Yokohama, and Tokyo Disneyland; bus stop 6 serves Tochigi and Utsunomiya; bus stop 7 serves Hachioji, Shinjuku, and Kumamoto; and bus stop 8 serves Beppu and Oita. The bus company we handle is Nihon Kotsu. When purchasing tickets, you can use not only cash but also credit cards. We also sell tickets up to one month in advance, as well as tickets for the day.

Nihon Kotsu operates buses from OCAT to Tottori, Fukuchiyama, Maizuru, etc., and sells tickets for these buses. Please refer to the timetable for details on the operating schedule.
